OK, seriously - my brakes are turning pink!

I mean I'm secure and all, but I can't be rollin' around with pink mounting brakets for my brakes. I have no idea why this is happening, but the front two caliper carriers (mounting brakets) are turning pink right on the side you can see them.

Wheel cleaner does nothing, 3M Adhesive Remover didn't touch it, I have tried a lot of things and they are still damn pink.

I mean it's not like you have to get up close to the car to find out, but my friend was in the car next to me and I get a "dude, your brakes are pink" comment. That's just not cool!

Now, these are just regular metal, they aren't anodized or anything.

The car only has 2100 miles on it also, and I remember it being like this since the first time I washed the car two months ago.

Any ideas for products I should try? I can take a picture if you guys want to see how girly my car is. ;)

Thanks,

- Anthony

Do you use acid based wheel cleaner? That can cause discoloration on unfinished parts like caliper brackets, and even the calipers themselves. The dealer could have used an acid based cleaner that caused it.

I'd just take them apart, sand, prime and paint the parts in question. If it's acid damage, your not going to remove it anyway.

Pics would help if you can post them. :up

I don't think the dealer used an acidic based wheel cleaner, it's an Audi/Porsche dealership.

I use Eagle One A-Z, so that's not acidic either.

Before I take them apart and sand them, I'll just have Audi replace the damn things at the 10k mile service. :P

I'll go take some pics though so you guys can see. It looks like oil honestly.

It also could be the goo that dealers put on the back of disc brake pads to stop squeel. It's typically pink. Could be oozing out and getting all over.

Hard to say until we see those pics. :)
