Oh... I'm having a good laugh

So, I'm over reading at autogeek tonight and I see that Mike has finally started posting and (to his credit) he gets a question about tire shine products and he lists pretty much every Meg's product for the answer.

I give him lots of respect for that response (which is a good starting point to prove he is a man of substance - not that I think it was in question)... but the reason I find it funny is I can just see that a "select few" of the so called "experts" over there are beside themselves.

How dare he impose "lowly Meguiars" on their fancy forum!!! :scared::scared::scared::scared: I don't mean the guys running autogeek, I mean a select few users.

Next I read a thread regarding drying chamois and one of my personal favorite posters* is obviously not pleased with Mike's response. It's day one and I already know the end of this movie, can't wait to watch the rest.:D

*Please be advised, today is "opposite of what you mean" day.

Yeah, I read them. Thats the only reason I visit Autogeek, other that that I cant stand the place.

I thought the tire dressing selection was interesting and the Absorber too.

I want to see how this plays out. Its gonna be fun to watch.

Let's remember the goal of this forum is provide open and truthful advice about detailing. This thread is in the Water Cooler area and doesn't break any rules but I still feel it puts me in a unique situation. While the opinions expressed are certainly the opinions of the OP and are not disrespectful they do mention a competitor of ours in a "less then friendly" tone. Truth In Detailing was implemented to offer an alternative in the online detailing community, where the focus is soley on the open discusion and advice of detailing with out the associated drama that other forums promote.

I have seen other forums where we (proper auto care) have been ripped apart and it seemed to be supported by the forum owners, moderators, and administrators. While it is only human to want to refute some of the lies told by these companies I don't want pollute the forum by stooping to thier level.

With this preamble over, please keep in mind our goals and our vision for this forum should you choose to respond to this thread. Mike Phillips is a stand up guy who I have defended on other forums when he worked for Megs and who I will defend on this forum even if he works for someone else.

He is a good and honest person and a friend. We are free to express our opinions in this section but let's set the example by example if that
makes sense. I mean this in reference to the potenital responses more so the original post. Thanks guys!

Todd,

My intent wasn't to bash Mike or even Autogeek and I hope that I've made that clear. Like you, I also think Mike is a stand-up guy, it's just that his original post was very interesting re: tire shine products (and like Nick said - the Absorber).

My post was geared towards certain AG members which have a certain attitude which I don't think would be very welcoming of the "Meguiar's products are good" philosophy of MP.

Just a very casual observation! ;)

Your post was fine; I was more concerned with the potential for follow up posts :) infact you make this forum fun and I am glad to see you posting over here

Where are these threads? Im not a member over there so I havent seen them. This would be very interesting to see :D

That is why I'm here. To stay comfortably above the fray and not "stoop" to the bottom level. I agree with Todd's perspective and would like to see TID remain maturlely above such nonsense and stay beyond reproach. Believe me I could add plenty of fodder to feed the hate of other forums but I clearly realize that doesn't result in anything productive.

I will say it still might be interesting to see one's previous allegiance play out but having met Mike I'm sure he'll handle it professionally.

Yeah, I am nto bashing Mike either, he is a pretty cool guy from what I can tell.

like User Name mentioned, I could see other members at AG getting annoyed by him.

Like the post he made just recently where he posted pics of a Meguiars Saturday Class. I think thats fine, but I know it gets on others nerves.
