OCW question

Used my OCW over OOS for the first time last week and did my first ONR wash today. It has rained, misted, and been nasty in the interim but the grime seemed to slide off. Gonna post my results later with some thoughts but wanted to ask a question first.

How often should I reapply OCW?

Did a search and am more confused than ever. Does it really need to be applied after every other wash (which for me would be about two weeks). I knew that the 5 month thing I had seen around for a spray wax was probably pushing it but 2 weeks is pretty short.

TIA,

Tony

Tony ... I would do it every month until it gets really nasty out. It's so easy to use that it wouldn't hurt applying a coat every other time you wash it.

I think once a month will be plenty safe. It all depends on how long traditional wax lasts where you live, to be safe, take that, cut it in half and see how it works out.

You can use it after each wash if you want. Gives the paint a really sick wet glow. Durability on its own is 6 weeks to 3 months depending on what your local environment is like.

I'm thinking of trying OCW, and I have a question too: I know it has carnauba in it, so does it attract dust like carnauba waxes do vs. sealants?

No more the OID.......

They are both great as stand alones, but even better when used alternately. IOW, alternate uses after each wash..........

No more then IDGE.......

There seems to be very little dust attraction with OCW.

Pricematch to detailed image for 25% off

Thanks for the heads up, but no need.

Why?

Because I've decided to place my order with Detailed Image instead. I have never bought from them before, and I figure with a sale like that, they definitely deserve my business!

I really do appreciate your post though. I had just discovered DI's sale less than an hour before your post.

No problem. Just placed an order with Detailed Image myself. I got enough Opti-Seal to last me at least 1 year for my car and both my parents cars.

Also got the Squash Air CS-X3 Air freshener, Leather Cleaner/Conditioner, a detailing brush, Meguiars APC+, 303 spray, foam applicator pads, and a few other goodies.

25% plus free shipping rocks!

Although I don't like OCW I never found it to attract dust when I did use it .

If not applied as per directions you might get streaking but a little Quick Detailing spray can fix that easily. I had that problem the first time I applied OCW.

That DI sale was a great one..............keep that in mind the next time it comes around; use it to shop at Autogeek or others that price match. Most of what DI & AG carry are the same, save for CG at DI and the complete Pinnical/WG/DP lines at AG. Poorboys, Megiar's, P21, Optimum, etc. are common, along with most accessories. However, each has their own unique product set.....so order the best combination of things you need and use the best pricing promotion to optimize the deal at either vendor. they are both great.

DI is ~210 miles away and Fedex delivers the next day. The bad news is, on a big order, sales tax makes a significant difference in delivered price. Plus, they don't run the same free shipping sales as AG does, the terms are sometimes different. Hence, I buy products (like Collinite) that are made 150 miles away, from a company in Florida, so the bottle can get frequent flier miles.........NY State to Stuart, FL.......then back to NY State. Makes perfect sense! :D

See ya. :wavey

I've spent a couple of weeks with OCW now, and I am happy to say that the results have actually far exceeded my expectations! This is very impressive given the fact that my expectations were actually fairly high given the reviews here combined with the fact that I have always been impressed with the Optimum products that I have tried.

On my yellow car, OCW made a very noticeable difference in terms of depth. I used it on top of UPGP. The paint was already very glossy and shiny, but the added depth of OCW was very impressive and took it to the next level. My paint now looks even wetter, and looks a mile deep.

I had asked if OCW attracts dust earlier in this thread. I can report that it absolutely does not attract dust. In fact, if anything, it seems to prevent dust attraction as well as anything else I have used, which is certainly not something I would have expected.

OCW also makes the surface of the paint very slick.

The fact that it is also very easy to use makes this a fantastic product, and it will be getting a lot of use.

I'm glad that I bought the gallon size from the DI 25% off sale! :woohoo:
