OCW+Dark Colors=Streaking?

I just got my Optimum Car Wax today and used it on 3 cars, one red, black and white. On the white I was very impressed, very slick and great shine. On the other hand, on red and black it streaks quite abit. I only gave a little squirt on each pannel so I don't think Im spraying too much product. What am I doing wrong? Also I tried removing the streaks with qd but no luck, any other way of removing it with out putting it in the sun? Thanks

next time, try spraying the wax on your towel and wiping the panel instead of spraying directly on the panel. i apply OCW the same way i apply QD.

Yeah it's a wee bit tempermental at times. Much like a QD.

Don't use it in the very hot sun or on hot panels (no brainer).

Actually, I like to use it on hot panels, believe it or not.

I sprayed on my towel and wipe. Flashed very quickly to a nice shine.

I have tried it in the morning where the panels are cold and condensing.

Did not work too well.

It also works very well during dusk (the mosquitoes were merciless

on me, though).

I only started using OCW this past week, but here's what I noticed based on my very limited experiences with two dark colored vehicles. On one vehicle I used OCW immediately after polishing it with OCP. On the next vehicle I applied OCW over a sealer (Permashield Finish Guard). If I applied OCW too thick or waited to long to wipe it, then I would 'sometimes' get streaks. I also got a few streaks when applying it with a MF towel. Perhaps it was the type of MF towel I was using that caused this. I switched to using a Meguires even coat applicator which is basically a rectangular shaped sponge encased in a MF cloth and that did the trick for me. I lightly spray the applicator and then swipe it across the surface I'm treating and will continue to wipe the applicator across the surface until the film almost dissapears. Then I flip the applicator over to buff it out. The application of OCW on the paint, trim & glass was quick & easy. The results were great, especially over the surface that was sealed.

I used it on a black Porsche last weekend and about died, it was way too hot out. The stuff flashed before i could get it wiped in. Not the products fault, just a bad selection choice......I ended up using UPP to finish the job......

Yep, it's very temperamental to surface temperatures. On the darker colors you notice it and on the lighter ones you can get away with it. Sometimes if you work really fast and use really small amounts, you can get the job done on a dark and warm surface.

Thanks for the suggestions, Ill try spraying the microfiber and then wiping the panel. Also when I applied the ocw It was inside of my garage at night so maybe the car was too cool?

I'm glad more people are posting results based on usage of this product. It helps to compare notes :)

I have used OCW with my Green "plush" MF from Winners Circle and got streaks like I've never seen before (I wash my towels in "Micro-Restore" from Autogeek. But then like gadsan I may have used too much. But tried it the same way with a different MF and no streaks.

I've never tried using OCW over a sealant but that sounds like a plan to try.

Am wondering if OCW would hold up to a Western NY winter (long and alot of snow)?
