Observations on Ultima

Can a garage queen get by with one application of upgp a year?

I`ve gotta ask why you`d want it to last a year when its so quick to reapply ?

A quick ONR wash and another coat every 3 months should have it looking spot on all year and only take half an hour :)

Cost and the fact that I had rather be at the lake skiing or on the golf course than detailing my car. The car never sees rain. Agree with you that it is very easy to ONR and apply upgp. Great combo.

Without QD's or ONR or QEW? I think the Ultima QD also has polycharger in it to add to the protection. Some reviews claim that the sheeting action falls off fairly fast.

In the summer I use the QD pretty regularly, and I know that adds to the longevity. However, this winter I haven't really used the QD. Mostly auto car washes. This winter has been a huge pain. Way too cold for me to wash outside.

I've seen those claims of quick falloff, just hasn't been my experience.

Can CG EZ-Creme Glaze or Wet Mirror Finish be substituted for DWG? :bigups

I'm sure it can, but probably as a base. The nice thing about DWG is that you can put it as a base, as a topper, or in between a wax or sealant and it won't affect bonding.

I have posted before on UPGP, but again my experience after a PA winter has been excellent. I multi-coated maybe 6x by the book, and have had excellent results all winter. I am definitely seeing signs of wear, but am more than pleased with the results.

UPGP goes on easy, needs little removal when properly dry and a bottle lasts and lasts.

Inside on lacquered surfaces I still use FK1000P and it also has held up very well. Great product for small controlled surfaces. I find it difficult to remove from larger surfaces, so I restrict use accordingly.

These two are staying in my arsenal.

SAmIam- Heh heh, a Lexus with Ultima sounds mighty low-maintenance compared to some other car/LSP combos I can think of ;) Glad it's working out for you so well.

I have settled into a routine of washing with a mix of ONR and Optimum wash then drying with my leafblower and following with an application of UPGP after every wash. The whole process takes a little over and hour. All, and I mean all, of the water is removed with the leaf blower. The UPGP finish is always super slick and for extra pop I occasionally apply DWG as well. I'm always open to trying new products but this combo is so easy to use and works so well I don't look for new products as much anymore. It's amazing how far that little bottle of UPGP lasts too. I went all year on 3 cars and still had a third of a bottle left.

FWIW I used to use UPGP and thought it was great until I got 1000p. IMO 1000p looks much better, beads better and seems to last longer. (I will say that putting DWG under 1000p as many have mentioned doesn't look good- on my car at least)
