Thats right another Cavallier!!!!!



This car belongs to a 70+ couple down the street and they got it a month ago. They were showing it off to me and I said soon as it warms we will wax it. They said no need .. as they paid $350 for a special treatment already.



That afternoon I washed it for them and looked it over close .. knowing the dealer detailers ( $8 hour kid) I would see leftover residue all over .. not a spec...



When I was washing not a bead to be found and there was crap imbeddedin the paint .. rail dust etc.



I called them out and suggested they had been scammed and told them what they should be seeing.. Did the baggie test on the paint to show them how rough it was.. and that I had heard this dealer had scammed a few of the older unknowing folks.



He went back to the dealer and expressed his concern .. low and behold the dealer said that they seemed anxious to get the car so they released it to them and there was a note on the file to call them in a couple weeks to bring it up ..



I warned him of this and the old guy walked behind the counter and said "I'd like to see that note" .. well red faces everywhere.... no note ..



He got his $350 back and we typed up a letter to GM.



I clayed the car then put a coat of NXT on it in exchange for a bottle of DACP .. I'll wax it in the fall for them too..



Silver is hard to get pix of but I tried. With my cheapie cam if I do it in the sun it just mattes it. Trust me .. it is reflective.

That was especially kind of you to help them out! So many of our seniors get ripped off everyday and it pains me to read/hear of these things....shame on GM!!! I bet you will keep the couples business...what a nice young man! LOL
 
No shame on GM -Shame on the dealer for ripping off older people. The snake oil of "5 year never have to wax for $XXX" is all dealer profit :(. GM (or any corp) has no control over that.

Yeep I know .. but doesn't hurt GM to know. If you have ever bought a new GM they send out a questionaire and it NEVER asks what you think of the car .. just does a dealer evaluation.
 
Autopian to the rescue! That's pretty cool you helped out that elderly couple. I too see alot of elderly people getting ripped off, and it really pisses me off! Having a service business, I try to over emphasize my sincerity, honesty, trustworthiness, etc. to make the elderly and of course any other person feel comfortable ordering a service from me.



Great job on the Chevy! Very reflective for silver!
 
Nice work Dee! NXT seems to work really well as a one step when the paint is in decent shape!



That was good of you to help that couple out. It is a real shame that dealers take advantage of people like that. :mad:



BTW, that Cavalier was in a lot better shape than the '98 Mazda 626 I washed today at an office (the one where I remove tar from a lot of cars) today. Probably the first time it has been washed and vacuumed in months. Ugh.

Very cool of you to help that couple out:xyxthumbs So many times today far too many "young" people look down on the elderly so it is great to see how you helped them out.

When I bought my Jetta the saleman was very concerned that I was satisfied with the sales process. He explained that low scores on the VW follow-up survey, mean they are alloted fewer cars the next year.

Not sure if GM has a similiar system, but it seems like a good concept.

I wouldn't say that only the elderly get ripped off on this scam. I think it works pretty well across the board regardless of age or sex. Unfortunately, they probably push a little harder on what they deem an easy target.



It really is a shame, and ultimately it is stupid as eventually people become wise to a scam artist and their business will suffer.

What is the baggie test ?



Place your hand in a plastic bag (hence baggie) and run your hand along the paint surface, if it feels 'gritty' it needs Detailers Clay to remove the imbedded debris.
