NXT paste wax vs #16 Paste wax

Someone here, I can't remember who it was but he comes from a engineering background, made an interesting statement about layering and waxes.



He stated that waxes don't layer as in forming a new film layer like sealants are meant to do. Instead, applying an extra layer increases the wax density, thus creating a deeper appearance and increasing durability.



This, of course, doesn't apply to NXT paste wax as it isn't a true wax, but a synthetic sealant wax.



I don't know if it layers, but anecdotal evidence suggests that multiple layers of NXT looks better than one application.



Maybe it does layer to a point.

Just to clarify,



NXT Tech Wax isn't meant to be an exact replacement for #16 Professional Paste Wax. When we state it will replace #16 what we mean is if you're looking for a paste style wax, NXT Tech Wax, like #16 PPP, is a paste style wax, that's the correct understanding, not that this new product is a similar product formula-wise.

I think it's interesting that NXT has cleaners in it, presumably to make it easier to use for the general consumers it's aimed at. Yet ebcivic (sp?) found it harder to use than good ol' #16.

You don't have to panic, but stocks will dry up.

As others have said, buy one or two tins while you can. Unless you detail professionally that should last you a lifetime.

I'm going to buy 4-5 cans. I have one unopened can and one about 50% full.



I told one customer I was going to have to stop using #16 on her car because it lasts too long and she isn't getting her car waxed often enough. :lol

She would probably never return with the longevity she is getting with a wax, if you treated her to a good sealant.

I always think the whole layering thing is quite funny!



I do it myself, don't get me wrong, like most here i am always wondering things like "what if I top that with P21S" or whatever. If you go ahead and layer it - yes it might make a difference - in your eye it may look better.



At the end of the day though - I can't help thinking that the reason we all love layering waxes is simply that we love waxing the car!!!



if we just left one coat on and let it naturaly diminsh (good waxes have long durability now - as regularly discussed here) - what the hell would we do at the weekends then??

Her boss pays for it anyway, she just doesn't want to waste his money unecessarily I guess. She loves the way it looks on her SUV. She told me to keep using it!

Agreed. I bought one tin and when it comes, I'll vacuum seal it until I need it. I have one open tin now and its about 40% done.



Vacuum sealing is a great for items you don't use often. I have Blitz and 3M tins sealed and when I use them (barely) I simply reseal them in the same bag when finished.
