NXT over top of Zaino

I have a 2003 Dar Shadow Grey Mach 1 mustang that, as my sig suggests, is an all out garage queen.

I have used only Zaino since day 1 and have roughly 15-20 combined coats of z-5 and z-2 on the car. While I just put it under the cover for an upcoming show fully detailed -- I suddenly started to hear all the fuss about Meg's NXT and the depth it gives to your finish. Even saw pics on the Mach1registry.com to back it up...

My question is --

1. I don't want to redo the car again by next Saturday with all Meguiars products but I am interested in adding a coat of NXT on top of the Z-2 I just applied 2 days ago. Is their any harm in adding NXT on top of Zaino?

2. How do I strip the NXT in the future if I don't like it?

Thanks in advance,

Chris

I would do atest section first. Supposedly NXT has "specialized cleaning agents" (cleaners to prepare the finish for nxt) I have not determined if the cleaning agents will remove the underlying Zaino.

I have used both. The nxt is noting spectacular and will lose its glosss and slickness much quicker than Zaino

Also I've noticed on several cars that the oils in NXT tend to hide somewhat the metallics in paint. NXT is fine on solid colored cars but I'm not crazy about it on metallics and I've used it on several metallic paint jobs.

I agree with Jeeper in that NXT will drop off in slickness and gloss sooner than Zaino. I've said it before but topping Zaino diminishes 2/3 of its advantages. If you want to try NXT, strip off the Zaino and use it that way.

Shouldn't the cleaners in NXT strip off any Zaino?

I have an all out Black Mustang GT Garage queen, too. I never drive it in the rain, etc...

I have been doing the same Zaino process, adding new coats every month or so. I have an accumulation of scratches starting to show, all very minor, but visible in demanding light.

I find the process of using SMR, etc... and then dawn washing to be very frustrating (not to mention very time consuming). After several coats of Zaino, I start to see some surface scratches (probably even in the layers of Zaino) and the only option is going back to SMR stage one.

I like the idea of jumping right from SMR to NXT without an entire wash / dry session.
