NuFinish harshness

I decided to try some NuFinish on my 2000 Ford Crown Victoria.

I washed and cleaned the front bumper fascia (plastic/polymer bumper cover) and noticed a lot of dead bugs stuck on there. I cleaned as much of it as I could and decided to trry an experiment.

After hearing how harsh it is and how strong it was becuase it reeked of petroleum products, I used NuFinish to polish the entire front cover.

The stuff came off easier than Meguiar's Gold Class, it was literally wipe on, wipe off.

No residue, no dandruff, no streaking, etc...

And to top it off, none of the left over bug remains came off - not even a tiny part of the bugs.

I don't understand how NuFinish would be "so strong" if it couldn't take off a few dead bug smears???

BTW I used NuFinish on the cover because it gets the most crap sprayed on it (road debris, water, salt, mud, etc) and it doesn't have to look super duper shiny. If the NuFinish can indeed last about a year, then I'll be a happy camper.

nufinish is harsh if you scrub it in hard enough....... I find that it hits peak abrasiveness when used with a PC.

From what I understand, no cleaner wax type of product is really that strong in the overall spectrum of cleaning/polishing "strength". What I mean is, I don't expect even NuFinish to be as strong a polish/cleaner as something made to do that. Besides, dead bug guts and transferred paint (from a door ding) can get really embedded or etched in there, requiring something really strong to remove.

On another note, I clayed and NuFinished my parent's old Dodge Caravan the other day. Can't say it improved shine any on the repainted side, but I just want to protect it a bit and make washing easier. A thin Klasse/Zaino-like application with a damp applicator also (apparently) works. I used very very little for the whole behemoth.

Yeah I did notice that NuFinish won't make the body as shiny as Gold Class, but it still looks decent.

I asked MEguiar's what product to use on my vehicle and they recommended Gold Class over #26 and #20 for proteection and appearance. But like I said before I wasn't looking for appearance on the bumper covers.

Anyone know what kind of abrasives NuFinish has?

Thats the funny thing about NuFinish is that it smells really harsh like yer averidge paint cleaner but as a cleaner its not good. I dont think its that abrasive, it doesnt clean well, it cleans minor dirt marks with too much rubbing that i care for, but the smell isnt incouraging is it....and the shine is ok for beaters only.

But how well does it protect?

Does it really last up to one year if you protect the car (like you don't leave it out in the sun on purpose, or you don't scrub it down in an automatic car wash, etc)?

I have a 2000 Ford Crown Vic (dark dark blue), and the shine wasn't CRAP, but its not as shiny as the Gold Class I used.
