I can't believe it! I just saw an ad for Nu Finish on Tv in MN. It showed a car with nu finish wax that they ran through an automatic car wash something like 52 times and still beaded water. Then proceeded to tell the local stores it could be purchased

Ok my report is over, i was just suprised to see it on tv.

all i use is nu finish on all my cars .. that stuff is good ...laugh if you want but it really gives a nice look

I just found a bottle of this stuff in my parents' basement from at least 5 years ago. I know a lot of people hate it, but I've never really looked at it to know why?

one thing ive learned over the past few months is that nothing is definite in detialing.. some like this others that. So you may not like new fimhsih like me but each to his own. And hey maybe its worth a shot. I know personalt im always willing to try somthing before i knock it beacasue iti may be great it may suck. Honselty i would give it a shot and see how YOU like it. But cool thread i like it

I think NuFinish is the only definitely crappy product, although I don't think it will harm a perfect finish that much.

Have you ever used it? What is it anyway, a polish, paint sealer, or both? What makes it so bad. I'm just curious so I can defend myself if someone trys to tell me it's the best stuff.

Well, you'll find it at a flea market or yard sale, or in a friend's garage, so you should try it yourself.
On my friends back 4-Runner (before he called me), he did the Scratch Doctor polish and then the Nu-Finish--I Guess it is a sealant, or wax perhaps--it turned it into a leprous black with white blotches.

But even if that was a fluke, it isn't pretty, it doesn't feel effective, and it takes 2 apps to do the 6 months. If you are doing two apps, use a pretty wax like Natty's or Souveran or any of the more expensive OTC products, and enjoy a better result.

But I'm just one man.

You see, PEI is one of the most car-caustic places on the planet. A ten year old car with no rust is a car with significant body work, or owned by a detail geek, or is a garage queen. Our products have to be good.

Nufinish is for the person who doesent care about cars , and only wants to clean up a little, the paint that is faded and is dull and dirty. This person would never have a pro detail his car, would think that any person who washes his car more then once a month is over doing it ,and thinks that a car is only a appliance. Most people that read detailing posts are different. They like cars and feel better when there cars are detailed, they are proud of there care and want to show it.

Last time I saw that ad was like 5-7 years ago when the product came out and I went rushing to the store to get it :)

Same with calgary all cars 10 yrs old or more have atleast a little rust
my buddys old suzuki samurai had a rust hole in the floor and sometimes snow would come up through the hole

My parents had 5-7 bottles laying around when I started detailing. Needless to say, there are 5-7 full bottles still in the garage. The stuff is crap. Yeah, it will protect your car for a while, but it will protect at the price of an oily looking finish. Not to mention its a xxxxx to take off, and leaves white flakes everywhere.

I've lived in Lethbridge. It can be rough, especially with stone chips since you basically put gravel on the road to grip on ice.
PEI, though, is worse. Much worse.
But anywhere in Canada other than Lower Mainland BC needs excellent products.

Not my main game, really, but my PDR guy typically catches the maximum for trout (8 now, I think).
Halifax is a rough atmosphere too. Plus, you have to live in Halifax. :D

Good product, bad product, it really doesn't matter -- this is a product with such ideal branding and market distribution!! I'd really be intrested in what their annual gross sales are, for it must be staggering (millions I'd imagine). As for the commercial, it's the same one they've been running for close to thirty years.

Most of us could only dream of having such sucess.
