Nothing sticks to Opti-Coat... or does it? Lets find out....

I had to sign a waiver for Opti-Coat pro too.







I bought my first sample...just an FYI.



In terms of darkening, CQF > 22ple > OC.

What's the hardness of the 22ple supposed to be man? About the same as all the other claims from everyone else?

Or, I could strip it off and get something that looks better right off the bat and not have to keep spending money on buying LSP's for 20.00 or more that last 2 weeks. I'm not downing OC as a whole... but with the newer products I think they should try to up their game in the looks department.



For me, NOTHING looks better than multiple coats of a good sealant, but the scratch and chemical resistance just isn't there like it is with OC, Cquartz, etc. I'm also one who enjoys washing and cleaning my car ... like everyone here i'm sure. I've thought many many times about just going back to one of the "harder" sealants if you will. Something marr resistant, but I also cannot deny the fact that a super sealant is always going to have that better scratch resistance. I've got 13k miles on my Subaru WRX and with cheap paint and AWD most of the time there's quite a bit of sand blasting that's happened by now. I can count the total chips in my paint all over the car on 1 hand. The OC is very hard and durable stuff. I just want to try something else is all.

what exactly dont you like about the look...ive never seen OC not look great...maybe your paint needs more work?

lol, man i'm not the only one who feels the same way about the look. I don't like the fact that OC tends to look dull after a while for one. I know it's easy to try to blame it on my prep work, and while i'm not a pro, i've been doing this for about 7 or so years now, so I know what i'm doing.

to each their own i guess...I agree that ive heard others complain about OC not being slick to the touch (which i dont know why people feel the need to drag their fingers across their paint, and heard people complain that OC appears to mute flakes, but i personally havent experienced it. Dont get me wrong i wasnt BLAMING your prep work, just pointing out that it could be one of many factors to consider.



you know, 7 years isnt really a long time...there are still lots of things i bet you could learn...ive been doing this 25 years or more now and still find there are things i learn.

I'm not a pro, but my paint was polished correctly, under halogens and the car was also brand new... so yes, I know how to polish a car. I'm not the only one who thinks OC isn't the best looking out there and that it's more known for it's durability than it's looks.

Just because you don't have swirls, doesn't mean your paint is perfect. After I'm done with a good finishing polish, I find that most sealants and waxes actually MUTE the look.



That said, I think you are still missing the big picture, with OC your car may not look as good DAY1, but over the course of a week or so, it does look better as it stays cleaner. I really struggle with it as well, I love applying LSPs, playing with new ones ,etc, but being honest with myself, the OC'd car looks better more days of the week/month/year.

Just because you don't have swirls, doesn't mean your paint is perfect. After I'm done with a good finishing polish, I find that most sealants and waxes actually MUTE the look.

you're welcome... and back to the wax over OC. Never tried it... probably will. I have DG105 that I like the look of the most out of my LSP's tbh... how long it would last I have no clue. The 915 I also like, so i'll try that as well. I have powerlock, opti-seal, FK1000, AJT, and others that I can't remember right off the bat. I realize that most of these are not "waxes" but sealants, but we'll see how they do.
