Nothing special, just wanted to post some pics

Looks great Gary. My wife has a similar Sonata with the same V6 (270 horsepower?) that moves out pretty good minus the lazy shift points. I will have to post pics of hers when ever I wash it again. I wet sanded it and put Opti Coat on it.

Thanks for sharing!

Hello Todd -

I wish Nelly was a V6 - she is the 4-banger with manual transmission. I could have purchsed an SE (V6) but I was driving over 1k miles a week...I added up the maintenance cost and the 4 cylinder manual made sense:
> Automatic would need tranny flush every 35 WEEKS (at several hundred dollars a pop) but I can change the manual fluid myself every 60 weeks for $26
> Oil filter on the V6 is much more expensive (and more difficult to change) and I did an oil/filter change every six weeks
> Gas mileage on the 4 cylinder manual was a bit better than the V6 (even so my gas bills ran $300 to $400 a month)

But what closed the deal on the 4 cylinder was price. Got owner loyalty discount from Hyundai, got a $500 coupon on a Sonata at the auto show, additional $1,000 off by financing through Hyundai (paid it off in six months), found ONE manual 4-banger on the dealer lot and it was discounted - got it for less than $12,400 (plus tax and paperwork crap) - it had about 5 miles on the odometer and I put on 3 of those miles on a test drive!

GEWB

Ahhh I should have looked at the engine pic closer :(

I would also take the 4 cyl/ stick shift, but perhaps for different reasons. I don't like automatics and they make driving very boring for me. The Sonata wasn't offered with a V6/stick so I would opt for the much slower Sonata that would be more fun for me to drive.

I have had to opt for smaller engines and more basic models with previous cars because very few manufacturers sell fully loaded models with sticks. Often I end up with a slower car with less creature comforts because I love having a third pedal.. weird right?

I know exactly what you mean / how you feel! I don't like automatics either - only had two in my life (since 1966), all others have been manual. The I-4 Sonata isn't THAT much slower and does well against other cars of equal size and weight. Plenty of HP to take 4 grown ups deep into the Colorado mountains with no strain.

I do miss some of the creater comforts of the "loaded" Sonata but there are enough after market toys to make up for most things.

I really like the interior of this years Sonata - not nuts about the exterior belt line. Oh, the 4 cylinder TWIN TURBO (274 horsepower and 269 pound-feet of torque) should be out some time in November - that one will be a lot of fun!

Gotta be the cleanest 07 Sonata in the World Gary. You should send a pic to Headquarters :ar!

Thanks, but they wouldn't care! However, my local dealer loves looking at Nelly when I take her in. In fact, she goes in tomorrow for a bunch of free service checks. Here is the text of an 8.5x11" flyer I put under the wiper and on the dash (all in big, bold letters):

Service Technician:

Please do NOT adjust tire air pressure
Please do NOT wash the car
Please do NOT top off washer fluid
Please do NOT wipe down exterior paint for any reason
Please do NOT wipe down interior surfaces for any reason

IF YOU WILL USE A FENDER COVER:

Please place the black non-skid mat (on front passenger seat) over fender body / under your fender cover.

Thank You!
