nothing against clay

I've used clay yesterday for the first time. For some reason (i suspect brake dust) the passenger side panels were very coarse compared to the slick finish of the rest of the car (I've been using Meguairs 1-2-3 cleaner-polish-wax for over 2 years now). This combo wasn't succesful on removing the coarse buildup on my finish. I had a piece of Meguiars clay laying around, and after a thorough wash I applied it with QD. The coarse buildup disappeared into my clay block after a few wipes. Amazed by the result, I want to clay my whole car next time. I used the few leftovers of my clay on the very dirty parts on my wheels, with spectacular results, so next time these will get a full clay treatment too.

Clay is a major technology breakthrough in the car care industry. It's proven and the results speak for themselves. Also when dealing with railhead dust, it's the only thing the OEM's recommend and approve to remove it. Machining with an abrasive is just grinding the contaminant into the paint and unless your using acid, the chemical cleaners are not of much help either. I never felt the need for clay until I tried it and now I can't detail without it! It gives an unmatched smoothness in my opinion.
