Note to self: Dont' leave windows open with unfinished popcorn ceilings.

Just a regular guy
So I left my window to my house open in my office last night and we had a crazy humid night. I woke up this morning to find that at least 50% of my ceiling finish had fallen all over my office. I spent the first half of today cleaning the up the mess then finding dry wall guys to come out refinish it.

I have a lot of projects I want to get down today, so thank godness for coffee, its gonna be a late night.

I would have hated to wake up to that in the morning. I see the plastic. I hope everything was covered to at least minimize the mess from everything that fell.

Popcorn??? Really? I thought they outlawed that after the 70's. But that is how you get it down though. Spray it with a garden sprayer and once it's saturated it scrapes right off.

I would assumed it was an installation error by improper ceiling prep. I have had those kind of ceilings in bathrooms with showers in years back and never had a problem.

I like flat painted ceilings these days.

Now that would bring new meaning to textured ceiling. Can you imagine trying to paint that!!!!!!
 
Darn, that stuff really should have bonded better. I'm sure many people sleep at night with the windows open without issues. Looks like they didn't use a primer beforehand, which you really should before any texture. Before you ask, yes I've applied the stuff before, never had any humidity/weather issues. Any why people use it is a cost and time issue, you don't have to do near as much skimming over the joints when a thick coat of texture is used. :bigups
