Not washing car correctly

Ok so I washed my car for the first time this weekend. I was following the zaino process an did a Dawn wash and a Z7 wash. After that when I went to apply the Z2, I noitced that my applicator was getting dirty!!!

I was paranoid about scratching so I didn't apply alot of pressure when washing. Was this my mistake??

You washed your car for the first time this weekend? Is it brand new? If not, when was it washed last????

Lay off the dishwashing soap.

I am sure that he is using dishwashing soap b/c that is what Zaino recomends. He was just reading what the Zaino tutorial was saying. I am sure that there is a good reason that sal recomends Dawn over the wash.

But dont use it for normal washings bud.

Dude, you Can't Be Treating Your Car Like It's A Dinner Plate.....car Wash Soap Only

He was using the correct procedure to apply Zaino for the first time. Dish soap on occasion won't hurt a thing and will help strip off old LSPs so you can start with a clean surface.

Dawn is very useful in removing LSP's from the paint, just not good at all if you don't want to remove LSP's because it contains alkalines. Don't knock him for using Dawn, it doesn't hurt that paint surface if used sparingly.

kt2000,

seems to me like you have some inbedded dirt and def. need to clay that bad boy. There shouldn't be any dirt getting on your app. after you do that. If there is then i don't know what the problem is.

i don't think the pressure you were putting on the car had anything to do with it.

Whenever I want to start all over or switch product lines, as far as my lsp, I usually do a full dawn wash on my 95 Passport. I have only done this a couple of times in the last 2 1/2 years though. I am the type that finds something that I like and works good and then stick with it. He should be okay with this as long as he applies some protection after he finishes the wash.

Yup only did Dawn once per Zaino's instructions. The claying may be partly for the dirt residue. I started claying, but wasn't picking anything up so I stopped. Maybe I should of kept going, but I was tired haha.
