Not my work....

As you all know, I was in the body business for many moons. To this day, I have not seen a paint revival like this one...

The work + transformation is real. Richard does good work. I've also done a bit of paint & body work (specializing in muscle cars) over many years and seen these kinds of tranformations a number of times from ss paints.

Not to knock the guy because I think he did great work, but I think it looked worse than it was. He didn't even need to get aggresive with it as Megs 80 and SX was enough to do the job, unless I read that wrong. Oxidation can be easy to get with the Rotary. I recently did a truck very similar to that with same results. I personally think bad swirls are worse than oxidation. Again, the guy did a very nice job and deserves props.

IIRC he is a member of this forum as well as MOL, SCG and tons of Mini forums. He is also a reseller of the WetWedge and he is about to be selling some suction cup camera thingie.

OH yea he also filmed the PC traning video as well as the upcoming rotary DVD.

Man out of all the cars ive done im still waiting for someone to bring me one in bad shape like that.

Sounds like a motivated guy.
Big time.

Not only is Richard about the hardest working guy I know he’s also one of the most thoughtful. He constantly strives to do the best he possibly can and to improve on it the next time. He always goes above and beyond.

PC.

That man definitely knows what he's doing. Uber props to that guy and I'd say he's been in the business for quite some time and is highly motivated compared to most that you see.

Pepe - the rotary is a tool you must master! I love it and it is my weapon of choice on just about every single car. I learned how to wet-sand and compound before I got into detailing.

I would happily pay for the extended lessons. The PC and Cyclo are easily self taught with a bit of product/pad experimentation and "time in grade". The rotary is as foreign to me as.........well, growing a pair of 44 double D's!

Both the roatry and the 44D's can being you much satisfaction.

I think OctaneGuy sells a DVD, you should ask him about the rotary content, it may be a good investment for you.

Hey guys, I can't believe I missed this thread. Hey "Unregistered" aka jsatek, I figured I'd find you here on Autopia. :rofl I do have to give credit where it's due, and that's I've had the best teacher in the world--IMO, my very good friend, Mike Phillips.

There are way too many kind posts here to thank individually, so a big group hug and THANK YOU is in order, :rofl I have to admit. I've had my share of mistakes this past year and not so nice things happen to me this year. I had an incident with a members wheels which I ended up paying dearly for because it was the "right" thing to do regardless of fault, and another incident with an experimental lighting system I had that fell over on to the car I was working. Of course I did what I felt was right to compensate and I don't think anybody has been dissatisfied. But those incidents were few and far between, and I've learned from them to make sure they never happen again.

As for using Meguiar's products and venturing off, I like their system. It's very easy, doesn't require a lot of thought to find the solution that works. However some of their products have had inherent flaws, and I've been trying another line of products from a small company in Colorado called Prima Car Care, and I'm finding their synthetic polymer to be every bit as good as what I"m used to, and it works flawlessly with the Meguiar's system.

But for the bulk of the work I still stay with Meguiar's, and use Prima for LSP and after care maintenance--QD, Spray Wax, Glass Cleaning, etc...

For those in the SoCal area, I'm opening a shop in Placentia (57/91) where I will be holding classes and you can find the products that I use there. I expect this to happen very quickly by Feb. 1. I will still be doing some mobile work, but my interest and passion really are in teaching these techniques to others. Lots of cool stuff happening over on SCG very soon, and yes my rotary DVD will be available--the holidays and other personal stuff delayed it yet again.

Thanks!!

Richard

Octaneguy - I had a feeling you were the real deal when we were posting about the Zaino. I am sure you know, there are many poseurs on the various boards.

I figured you should be posting and reading here also. I also thought the guys at Autopia should see the pics of that Camaro.

That car was a good example for people that get discouraged to keep at it, the results will come.

I remember last year when I first saw that thread, I was so inspired :D Such great work!

Haven't worked on any single stage paints that bad, but I think I worked on a clearcoated car that was just as bad :o Well, at least the hood and upper areas, which were almost flat black looking and felt like sandpaper!

I remember seeing your pictures and then when this car arrived, I immediately thought of your pix! This is why you DON'T wash a car with a Truck Brush!

Yesterday I worked on this 1972 Buik Skylark, preparing it to be sold, still working on the writeup so here are just a few pix, but from far away wasn't bad but under lighting it was horrid.

Test spots only done with rotary, didn't follow with PC, so the end result looked even better of course.

I finished at 12:30 midnight, spent about 10 hours, had a couple breaks for lunch and dinner. I would have stayed longer but the owner had to get to bed. :grinno:

Polished out with Meguiars, and LSP was Prima Epic synthetic polymer wax, chrome polished by hand with NXT.
