I was thinking about offering a special for the winter months..december, jan, maybe february...a "you price it detail" package

thinking about allowing people to tell me how much they want to spend on their car, asking what they are concerned about, what they expect, then coming up with a package to fill their needs based on the amoutn they mention....most people dont want to spend 250+ to get a clean car, they want to spend 140 or so and want it clean, and some cant justify spending the 250+ when its going to get dirty again in two days. This is from talking to some people about what they thought a detail is....little do they know! a wash, wax, interior clean up is considered routine to me, but a detail to them...

what do you think, anyone with experience with this type of selling? good, bad, worked out, didnt work out???

Honestly, I wouldn't take the input from the owners to that extent. i would just offer a quicky one step detail or something for cheap. Once you start asking thema million questions about what they are looking for you will probably scare them away. I know most of my customers just want a clean car for cheap. They don't care if I smear bird dookie on it, as long as it was shiny and cleaner than when they brought it in. LOL
