Norwex Vs. Viking Glass MF (My take on them)

Big Leegr

Swirls?!?! NNOOOOOOO!!!!!
First off, a little about the 2 brands...

Norwex:

-Was mentioned on other threads/boards that it was a Canadian mf. The company does have a base in Canada, but the cloth is made in China.

-70/30 blend

-Zig zag pattern. Virtually no nap (not plush).

-Kind of silky feeling, with a little "grab" to it

-About 50% larger than the Viking MF.

-MSRP is $17.50 Cdn. (I've seen it listed at about $12.50 US on web sites).

Viking:

-Made in China.

-Couldn't find the blend on the cloth, package, or even the web site. Couldn't even find a listing for it on the web site, although I saw a pic of it. :nixweiss

-Zig Zag pattern. Virtually no nap (not plush).

-Kind of silky feeling, with a little grab to it.

-16"x12"

-Price I paid-$2.99 US... for a 2 pak! :shocked

I think you can tell where I'm heading with this... IMHO the Viking MF's are comparable (performance and looks-wise) to the Norwex, and at a much lower price.

As to the performance, both work very well for final wipes and leaving glass streak free. I tend to clean off the bulk of the gunk with either a paper towel or a "lesser cherished" mf first, then use the glass towel for the final drying.

There should be a little moisture left for the cloth to wipe off, or at least the cloth should be a little moist to get the best results. Using either cloth dry on dry glass didn't work so good.

In closing, if you can't find any Viking Glass Cloths but want to try this type out, you can get a Norwex online and you'll see about the same results. It'll just cost you more to see those results with the Norwex. :p

I have the Norwex because at the time I could not find any other glass MF like it. Most others were either low nap typical terry style MFs or double sided MFs.

I believe it about the Viking. I really like the gold polishing MFs. I still wish a more complete variety of Viking MFs and products in general were available. Around here Auto Zone carries Viking so I hope they will continue to expand the Viking selection. I will definitely get the Viking glass MFs if I see them as I only have the one Norwex (that style).

I originally was a big fan of the Viper Glass Cleaning Towel from CMA and it works great. I am now fully encamped in the PakShak Glass Waffle Weave world. :xyxthumbs

You can also use a Sonus WW Detailing towel in a pinch...

Waffle weave works great on glass. CMA, Autogeek and Pakshak have all gone to waffle weave for glass towels.

Last weekend I attended the Meguiars Detailing class here in Ontario. One of the items in the goody bag they gave us for free was the new Dual Fiber Glass Towel. It is a mix of microfiber and cotton. I tried this out and really like it. Good bite but still glides across the glass well and no lint. Nice size too, about 16 x 24 with a silk microfiber edge.

Thanks for the review. I will also be getting some of those PakShak WW Glass Towels, love that Teal color.
