Northern California Spring Detailing event

So a few months ago, I'd posted about trying to put together a detailing event. There was some interest, but we decided to hold off until the Spring time. Well, it's that time.



I want to get a count of how may people would be interested in a weekend event in a month or two and if anyone has a location that we would work. My friend's shop still hasn't gotten off the ground, so we can't use his area like I was planning.
 
Shoot, Im in So. Cal.......kepp me posted though, may be worth a trip ! Whereabouts in Norcal are you ??
 
I'm in sacramento, but I know we have people in the bay area. I think it really depends on where we can find a place where we can detail multiple cars at once.

Key requirements as I see them are (in order):

free (or low cost)

water to wash with

space for multiple cars

power for PCs and other toys people bring

shade

convenient location



I wonder if there are any DIY car wash places that would let us take over the place? The ones near me are unattended so we could just take over.



I figure a mechanics shop or other business that's not open on weekends would be ideal so we don't get in anybody's way.
 
Hey, count me in! You couldn't keep me away from an Autopian meet of any size. Just let me know when and where. My in-laws live in Lodi so I'm up in No Cali all the time.
 
I'm interested - I'm in San Mateo - no great place for a lot of cars though. Please PM me when/if you pick a date and place. And if you like I can call my buddy at meguiar's - if there are about 15 people committed to come he will probably show up, demo, answer questions, and hand out free samples.
 
I was on vacation last week so I didn't get a chance to track this, but it looks like there is some good interest.



I'll get in touch with some wash bays in the sacramento area and see if any are willing to let us take over a few bays for a couple of hours. I'm gonna shoot for a sunday morning sometime early next month. Hopefully it won't be too hot and any random showers will be gone by then.
 
I would be interested, but can't provide a place. My vote would be somewhere near SF...Even a mall parking lot somewhere, like the bankrupt Kmart in Emeryville?
 
Any thought of doing this in Lake Tahoe so those who want to could get together for a cruise around the lake on the way home....?

Just a thought...

Would make an awesome backdrop for some good car pics too.



If it works out I'll fetch the trusty Nikon N80 along with all the detailing kit.

Your right, the backdrop for some picture taking of these cars after all the detailing would be great.

Lets watch the board and see if this idea has any takers...
