:bounce Hello to all. I have been always been a fan of what I have seen done with orbital polishers. So, a few seasons ago I decided to try out a Buffer/Polisher from Sears (7" Orbital). Not sure I have really used it to it's full potential. QUESTION: Is really a HUGE difference in what I can get out of mine vs a Porter Cable machine?



Has or does anyone else use the machine I am using? Any comments about it? And can I attach the same pads to mine that you guys are using on your PC? How?

Good idea to edit your post. ;) Sorry I didn't give more of an answer earlier, I was pressed for time.



I'm not familiar with the Sears polisher you bought, so I can't say whether the pads you have for it will work with the PC. If they have velcro backing, then you can use them with a PC. The PC is well supported in the aftermarket with a variety of different backing plate and pads, so you'll have many more options. The PC has more power (3.3 amps) than most any other orbital polisher in the market and is actually a good value for the money, hence its popularity in the detailing world.



If you're using your Sears buffer for just applying and removing wax, then it may be adequate. If you plan on correcting marring on paint, then you'll probably want something with more power.
 
Yeah, the PC is light years ahead of an ordinary orbital. It costs more at first, but the first time you do work with it (belive me once people see your car, they will want you to do theirs) it will pay for itself in no-time.



Get the PC, your finish will eventually need polishing one day, and the sears buffer wont cut it.
