No more international shipping for Pakshak

Well I heard from another member here at DC that Pakshak will not ship international any more. I called Ranney today and asked about this and he confirmed it. He said he had too many complaints about shipping costs from Canadians and others and he will just stop shipping here. That sucks. This was one of my favorite places to order from. One of the reasons was because the costs to ship to Canada from Pakshak were very cheap compared to most other on line stores including Canadian ones.

This blows considering i was gonna place an order for my 1st pakshak towels. Maybe one of the hawaiian DCers can assist with the shipping..

Ranney knew the little things that really help you at the border where Canada Customs likes to perform financial rape on your orders. So some complainers that probably don't know what they were complaining about screw it for others.
Id be happy to have your order shipped to my place and then send it too you.

That is nice of you. I will keep that in mind when I need to place an order. Problem is that will be double shipping costs. The cost from Pakshak to you than you to me.

No knock at Ranney, but it's possible that some of the sponsors here might be able to ship in a manner that would avoid excessive Canadian Customs charges.
You might consider PMing them and explaining the process so they could decide if it was workable for them.
I don't think they have any interest in doing something illegal, but I doubt that Ranney did either.

I just discovered this yesterday on their site. Totally sucks, as I was going to place my first order with them. Im going to see if my cousins can maybe get some stuff for me (live in Cali), and just bring it back to Canada with them when they visit.

Well let me know I wouldnt have a problem doing that for you.

Wow! I hear consumers complaining about shipping rates every day but that would never stop me from sending domestic or international shipments.

No one likes paying shipping/handling charges but businesses have to charge enough to cover the total costs involved such as the box, packing material, packing slips, the employees time to fill out customs forms and print shipping labels, the time spent driving to and waiting in line at the post office and finally, the actual amout that USPS charges for shipping and insurance. For international customers, we charge what USPS charges us plus $5.00 to cover all of the above. If a customer complains, we gently remind them of the service that we are providing and let them know that the price is firm and we would be happy to process and ship their order.

I love shipping international orders because it broadens my customer base and takes the Detail City name all over the world.

Thank you Dwayne, as long as you do International shipping you have my business :D ...I also thank you for being flexible to ship 'some orders' to California for those Singaporean customers ..it's cheaper for them that way as their post office has some arrangements with USPS (if I got that correctly)

Back to the topic, shame about no more Int shipping..but wish you all the best Ranney.

I was informed about it too :( sad to hear.

thanks Dwayne!!
Sometimes it's just hard to have some things sent here, since shipping/ customs costs most likely exceed the cost of the products!
Nevertheless, the service I have received from Dwayne and Ranney (and Steve too! :) ) are topnotch. Definitely can't be beat.

A hint for Canadian buyers... if the online seller you are buying from offers a choice of shippers and USPS Parcel Post is one of them then go for that. UPS, FedEx, and others charge a brokerage fee even if there is no duty to be paid, I just found this out myself. Shipping through the USPS incurs no brokerage fee but the sender must be sure to attach the proper forms to the package.

Yes I knew this. I only order if the vendor will send it by USPS. As a vendor there are other things you can do to prevent the financial rapes occurring at our borders. How you package and what you put on the labels is VERY important.

As a business, we choose to go by the book and fill out the customs forums accurately. We have had requests from customers to enter a value of $40 for a $150 order but I just won't do this. I do not know what the penalties are, if any, for filling out customs forms with false numbers but I'm not willing to find out the hard way.

Just a question beacause I am in the dark. So when you send something international you have to pay fees based on what it is worth just to get it in the country??? What kind of crap is that?
