No love for BLACKFIRE wax?

TH0001- Thanks for mentioning this one, you've piqued my interest. A few Qs:

Any way you could describe appearance diffs between it and Souveran?

Any trim-staining issues (I'm thinking about the Jag, where I use Souveran on the exterior plastic and rubber)?

I *REALLY* like the BF GEP cleaner and sealant for odd stuff (mainly satin/matte black suspension and underhood items), but it did the "darkening with oils" thing a bit too much for my liking (on Audi silver). The way the GEP/sealant combo works on the MPV's slightly surface rusted rear brake drums is simply astonishing to me; works so well I've blown off derusting/painting them.

Didn't notice any staining, but I never have with Souveran either (I didn't really test for it).

Appearance wise (to Pinnacle) I would describe it as similar in darkness/warmth, but more crystal clear and slightly wetter. I don't know if this makes sense or not, but like a 'thicker' pool is created.

I used their sealant (Wet Diamond AFPP) quite a bit last year and in 2006 (used it for the first time last weekend in over a year, actually), I remember why I liked it so much. With a finishing pad and PC, the application is great, and the residue buffs effortlessly.

It is one of the "oily" sealants (probably akin to UPP, WG, etc.), in that it is extremely slick and leaves a very high gloss. It added a lot of look to the 95%ish prepped paint (greyish-green metallic RX330). IME I have seen it go about 3-4 months, if the car is washed every two weeks or so.

I love that oily slick feeling. Does Souveran not provide the same "slickness" factor? I'll have to look into this Blackfire for the next wax I buy then. Anyone got a link to it, so I can compare prices to Souveran?

The slickness is from the sealant. Most carnuaba waxes will give you a buttery smooth feel as opposed the slide the towel across the hood slickness.

Here are a couple photos of the Ferrari I used it on.

Yea, I noticed that buttery smooth feeling with S100, but when I have used Meguiar's Gold Class paste wax, it was really slick and smooth like how you describe that sealant's properties. Guess I'll have to try out both in the future. Wish they made sample sizes, lol.

Hmm...the trim staining is a bigger deal than normal for me in this case  If you ever notice an issue from it I hope you'll somehow remember to post up something.

And yeah, I do think I get what you mean regarding the appearance. Thanks, I appreciate how hard it is to explain such stuff.

Souveran isn't sealant-slick for me either, and it gets noticably *less* slick after a wash or two. That's one of my gripes about it and one of the main reasons I redo Souveran so often, but I've been thinking that a spritz of FK425 might work wonders

I use AW after a wash if I have Souveran on the paint to prolong it. I think CG 5050 looks as good and last longer - just not quite as easy to apply.

I remember Blackfire was a hit on the UK forums, only thing is when it was tried a few times over here durability was a big issue. Shrug, funny how personal preference kicks in.

FWIW, I slathered my wife's car's trim with BlackFire and didn't get any trim staining at all.

Ah, OK, thanks for the info!

LOL you owe me one. My wife came out as I was waxing the platic under her wipers and she was like ," What are you doing? Is that plastic wax?"

Which lead to the invetiable explaination about you and this forum... 20 minutes later she looks at me and says...

"So this wax could make my trim white?"

"It could."

"What if it did?"

"I dunno, you would have white trim for a while..."

"Why do you try to mess up my car...."

"Honey, I am pretty good at this, I swear..."

Don't try that with NXT. I used some NXT spray wax on black trim and it was a disaster:wall

TH0001- Heh heh, yeah, I got a kick out of that too :D

I appreciate your test even more now that I know the whole story!

wannafbody- A spray-product that's worked great for me is UPP spray. I've been using it on the plastic cowling (same area TH0001 tested) of the DenaliXL with great results.
