No longer just a teaser of the year: Blue Lamborghini Gallardo

It looks fantastic! It is good to see the owner finally get the results he was looking for.

Great job Todd.

nice Todd, good to see the car finally receive a proper detail let alone some new trim :)

Thanks Josh!

Excellent job gotta luv the Lambos.

Thanks Jking!

Great job Todd, the blue does look very crisp in the bright sun.

Thanks Dana, it has a great paint job to begin with, just needed a little chiropractic back tweak to make it right!

Glad to see back in form like a Lambo should, only a Master Detailer can do!:D

Thanks Angelo!
Perfection! Nice detail Todd!:thumbup::thumbup: You definitely work on some cool cars!

Thanks Bill, I am very lucky to have such a cool client base, but YOU work on some amazing cars buddy!

Awesome work Todd. I am glad to see the owner finally had the right guy do the job. Nice save!

Thanks, gotta love blue cars ;)

Finally, it is looking the way it is supposed to. :D

That engine cover looks like an epic PITA to polish.

The engine cover was pretty bad, but nothing like poilshing the engine cover on this Murcei'. That was an royal PITA...

Nice work Todd...Where is the obligatory cigar shot???

Did you happen to take any readings with your PTG??? I was curious what the readings would be after the paint was hammered by the previous detailer and your attempts to correct his mistakes.

I only took a couple of readings, but have nothing to compare them to. Thanks for the compliments!

Well done Todd.

Do you know if the original "detailer" has agreed to pay for the damage, or is he still running from the law? LOL

He never paid for the damage nor has the owner heard from him since he told the owner he would not be sending a reciept.

I was wondering the same here UN..........:D

I bet the other guy spent the first day messing up the car and spent the other eight days trying to figure out what to tell the owner. :D

Terrific work as always. You had to pull out all the stops, from q-tips to high-tech sealants! Looks great and that color combo is now my new favorite for a Lambo. Outstanding.

Thanks Slik, and I agree with you, this color combination is amazing!!! It's also my color of my font!

Awesome work Todd.

So what was the owners reaction when you were all done?

He was very happy with the outcome, thanks for the compliments Chad!

Nice job. You get to work on some cars that many would shy away from (and the other "detailer" should have).

Thanks Katy!

BLUE-T-FUL !

Looks like that Lambo is flexing its muscles wearing a new muscle shirt. :scared:

If cars have souls this one just got a new lease on life... Nice job.

Thanks Kevin. The Muscle Shirt is perfectly tailored as well!

Nice resto Todd!

Thanks Buddy!

Good job as usual Todd...

Thanks Goose!

LOL thanks Barry!

Got to love the outright gloss and no BS involved.

Thanks Bryan!

It looks fantastic! It is good to see the owner finally get the results he was looking for.

Great job Todd.

Thanks Mike, I'm glad that owner did as well!

There is a place saved in hell for the guy that messed up that car and one saved in heaven for you Todd! The Lambo gods must be pleased!

Thanks buddy!

I could never do what you do on these cars-all the sharp edges you have to deal with when rotary polishing must be very intimidating!

To be honest that was probably the most single handedly difficult panel I have ever polished.

1) The paint is extremely hard on most modern Lamborghini's. Just to remove swirl marks can be a daunting and time consuming task from the flattest of panels and usually require 3-4 separate applications with a rotary to get right.

2) The panel has so many unique areas that it has to be broken down into about 8 separate areas (each requiring 3-4 passes).

3) There are so many areas (because of the sharp angles) for backing plate/pad interference that you have to keep total concentration so you don't damage an adjacent area (for 8 separate sections for 3-4 passes).

4) Because of the shape and location, you have to lean over the car (killing your lower back), while holding the polisher in some unique positions (to fit the machine into the angles) while avoiding damaging the adjacent panels.

5) The WORST PART is that you cannot mask off the egg cartoon like venting because the tape doesn't stick to it, and the grill actually is level with the surrounding panels, so you have to avoid polishing over this....

I think it took 2-3 hours of just polishing that area (and a sore back for days) to get it about 95% defect free. If I wanted to chase the really deep random marring it could easily have been 4-5 hours; I might still not be able to walk!

You know as cool as it would be to be you and be around those kind of cars every day, I think ill stick to my boring one step details on daily drivers :D

Awesome work Todd......as usual!!

I just tried M105 and the KBM yesterday for the first time. The paint was so hard that 3 passes with SIP & every pad combo hardly put a dent in it.

3M UK orange pad, 1200 to 1500 rpm's, more pressure than I care to admit to, mist with water half way thru to "reactivate" product= unbelievable cut and finish with 1 pass.

Thanks for the help via PM.

Todd, I don't know how I am just today running across this article on this car. You did an outstanding job bringing the car back to life! Im glad the owner was able to get you out there on it to regain the reputation of all of us detailers who actually take pride in our work. I cannot believe what that guy did to this car! How was he getting away with this for so long! This is the very reason I have not tried to JUMP straight into the exotic cars, one mess up(granted I would not run like this guy did) and your reputation could be ruined. Ive found it best to start small, learn what your doing, and if your doing everything right, it will all come to you eventually on its own, so far this mentality has done me pretty well! Still waiting on my first TRUE exotic car though...:)
