Nissan Sentra Meets Mercury Grand Marquis

Well, my son had my first polished from the dead car just a few months.
I`ve owned it a few years.
From Tar all over it, and now soon to a resting place (or new owner to straighten some things)
He turned 18 on Friday and stayed at a friend`s overnight Coming home Sat morning some lady runs a stop sign.
She was more worried about opening a pool at an apt complex than the police report. Which was right at location.
My bodyshop friend said it looks like the front clip is totally shifted. Waiting on police report and hoping it is 100% her fault so I get something. If not, my buddy said we can do a quick repair using parts from the frameless crown vic still at his place.
Hood can`t even open.

The don`t build them like they used to! Unbelievable how little damage was done to the mercury (granted there are definitely issues with the frame now).

Hope everyone is alright.

Thanks 06 and Ron.
He`s not injured. He bumped his knee and said his neck was a little stiff though.
I have a data recorder in the car and he went from 30 to 0 in about 3 secs. I can`t say he wasn`t paying attn. Looking at the damage. He said she looked like she was nosing out to look and just crossed right in front of him.
He`s been under special care since April. So he`s not catching any breaks this year. (Nor me and the wife).
I`m praying after Aug (one last step of 15 weekdays straight) he can ring the bell.
Then classes in Sept for him begin.
Being off this coming week, I plan on detailing a few of our vehicles. (Depends on how hot this week will be) I guess I got a break on his anyway.

wow .. glad he is ok .. metal can be fixed or replaced ... praying that all comes up clear next week

Glad he is okay. You`re fortunate that the Crown Vic still has a full frame under it.....the repair will be straightforward, but will definitely involve some frame work. Sometimes, that shift that you see will be restricted to the frame horns, and can be brought back easily. Do not try and open the hood....there`s a lot of pressure on the latch right now, and you will likely not be able to close it. One question...was the intersection a 4-way stop?

shawnF350- Glad he`s OK, this is a perfect example of why I`m all about Ford`s Panther Platform cars for young drivers.

Note that the CV and GM are a bit more different than one might expect with regard to the front sheetmetal/lights/etc. IIRC you`ll have to basically convert the whole front clip to CV (and you`ll have to do some tweaking to retain the Cornering Lights and have them fit OK as yes the CV front fenders are *that* different).

See what your bodyshop pal thinks once he`s got it on the rack and checked the frame and its alignment with the body (where it oughta still be OK).

@briarpatch
only a stop sign on her side.
He was driving on a 25mph blvd through the complex.

Reason I ask is because NJ is a `contributory negligence` state.....insurance companies are big on dividing the blame. Nothing to divide here, though....the other driver is at fault. Were there any witnesses?
