NIssan radio bezel

IT Rules!
Hey all, first time poster....
I just bought a 2023 Murano (off lease?) in almost perfect condition. I took delivery on 2/14, asked the dealer NOT to prep the car. Got it home, and all it really needed very minor paint correction (clay, decon, AIO polish and carnauba) When doing the interior, I noticed the radio bezel had markings, kinda like it was pitted. In the pictures I posted, can anyone tell me what that`s from and how to get rid of it without buying a new bezel?

Whippany? As in Whippany NJ?

Anyway, are you talking about the water-spotty kind of stuff that`s on the black, or that stuff that looks like lens flare (and perhaps not there) over the climate control knob? Have you tried cleaning it? It looks like it could be some kind of overspray from the dealer or car wash cleaning the interior, or perhaps hand sanitizer overspray from a previous owner.

Yes Whippany NJ.
The waters spots on the black and over the temp.lens. Yes I`ve tried to clean it, and it hasn`t gotten one iota better.

You might try some fine polish very sparingly to see if it makes any difference. But I`d start with something very fine, like a paint cleaner or KAIO. And I`d start with the main screen bezel before trying that climate control window area.

I`m not to far from Whippany, good evening fellow Jerseyan!

Kaio is what I would try as well. Another cleaner wax might work but most stain trim so bad I’d be worried about getting it on the surrounding panels. Maybe if you taped around the test area. Kaio is so handy, it’s worth getting even in this day.

Plenty of good advice on how to potentially fix it.

As for the cause, it could have been some really caustic cleaning materials. I`ve seen this a couple times on used cars purchased by either myself or other family members. The dealership prep people must be using some really nasty chemicals and the overspray etches the plastic.

In one instance I bought a car that had similar, but must larger droplet marks all over he gauge cluster. It was so bad you could fee the rough spots with your finger. The dealer knocked down the price in the event we wanted to have it repaired. After doing some research It would have required a new gauge cluster and then a life of documenting the odometer difference between actual and indicated. I decided to just leave it and was able to make it look a lot better with a little PlasticX.

What a shame. I`d like to thank you guys for taking the time out of your days to help me out. Unfortunately nothing worked except for the KAIO, which I didn`t try because I don`t have any. I will be getting some in the near future to try it and hope for the best.
I can`t see the imperfections at night, but during the day if the sun hits it just right, I can`t see the LCD display. A new bezel direct from Nissan is $385

It`s plastic, right ? If I had that piece, I would take a sharp Q-tip, get a little Einszett Cockpit Cleaner on it and just dab a tiny spot, far away from the rest, and see what it did.. If nothing, I might try the same with Einszett Deep Plastic Cleaner..

Perhaps this sprayed on product has somehow etched itself into the plastic??

Sad that someone did this, and sold the car without pointing it out to you in advance..

Good luck..

Maybe take the car back to the dealer. Worst case you have them sell you the part at their cost.
