Customer planned to sell his small pickup truck and wanted to get top dollar without spending too much. So I only did the exterior. Wash. Clay. Optimum polish with Sonus orange pad with rotary buffer 1000-1400rpm and then finish with Optimum polish with white pad with Cyclo buffer. LSP Optimum wax. Chrome trims were treated with AIO. Wheel well were degreased and dressed.

Work time 3 hours (non-stop). Charged $120.00

Only have 1 good before picture to show. I started at 3:10pm.

Front hood under the tree (before).

What do you think?

More other past jobs's pics....stay tune

Wow thats some serious cutting power for a polish. I bet opt compound would've taken care of that pretty well.

By the last shot, its not 100%, but surely a vast improvement. I bet it will definately help the sale :).

Good eyes. Thanks for the comment.

What do you think I can improve even further with 3 hours time frame and money?

I am thinking higher rpm like 1700 range might help. But Optimum only recommanded up to 1400 rpm. What should I do? :hairpull

I would suspect you would have been better off using the Optimum compound, if complete defect removal was the goal.

But it sure is a heck of a lot better.

Some RMG and a wax will do wonders to bring it home.

The Optimum compund arrived a few days later after this job. I was thinking to use PowerGloss but afraid the dust affect under short time window. Thanks.

For the time, Optimum is your stuff. I had nice results with Optimum and the LC Yellow Cutting Pad @ 1500 rpm, then Optimum and a finishing pad @ 1200 rpm. For the panels that see the most sun, I am sure to hit them twice. I busted through a couple cars like this with EXCELLENT results. I don't feel I'm 'cheating' a customer either. I would wager 90+ % of the defects were gone.

Nice work, especially without using a compound. Those were some serious halo swirls!

I'd definitely get some Optimum Compound and look into the Meguiars burgandy cutting pads-great cutting power (and no marring!) when used via PC. With a rotary, it will either be a touch too aggressive or make real short work of those types of swirls.

damnn, I know its not all out, but i use OP and I never realized the power of it...thats kinda sad on my part... :grinno: looks great...

Very good work there. OCP/W does leave a very deep reflective finish. Almost as if you had applied LSP.

I would loose the Orange Pad and use something a tad bit more aggressive. Optimum sells a nice black lambs wool pad that doesn't shed. I've used other wool pads as well.

Remember OCP/W (as well as many other polishes) are at their most aggresive state when used w/a wool pad.

Barring the wool pads I would second using a yellow medium cut pad instead of bumping up the rpm's on marring like that.

You did take one hellava bite out of that in a few hours though.
