Nikota vac n blo from Big Lots

Since finding this site I've developed two addictions. One is, of course, collecting polishes and LSPs. The other is shopping at Big Lots. My fiance says I need help, oh well. I've been looking for a shop vac since I've just moved in a new house and don't have access to one anymore. I was in Big Lots yesterday and saw this vac. It's nearly identical to the Metro version that's over $100 and it was only $40. I took a chance on it being good, and it actually is. It's a 3hp version and comes with all kinds of attachments, including 2 8ft. sections of hose. I used it last night and am very pleased. The only downside is that it's not a wet/dry vac. It has plenty of power and with all the tools included, I think it's a pretty good deal for the price. I tried to find a picture online, but like everything else at Big Lots, the company went under.



BTW, they have all grades of Long Haul products on sale for $5 or less.

identical, the only difference I can see is it's a 3.0 hp rather than 4.0 (exact decal, different number) and it says Nikota where that one says Metro. It even has the exact attachments.

Chances are it is the same vac with a different motor.



Oh what difference a fancy name can make. :o
 
I bought the Big Lots $20 RO sander and it works pretty well with an orange pad. It doesn't have the throw of the PC but it does have an 11k RO speed.
 
The handles are even the same. $39.99 sure is a big difference from $100+. So far I love it, I mounted it under my workbench (in the middle of the garage) and there's enough hose to reach across to either bay. I'm most impressed with the power. It doesn't have the power of the larger shop vacs, but I'm sure it's as good or better than the mid-range ones. It was a little cheaper and included all the attachments.



I noticed one other difference. Other than 3hp vs 4hp, it has a different switch. Mine's a lighted rocker switch, were the Metro vac is a metal toggle.
 
They didn't have this vacuum at my local BL last night. Ah well, I really can do what i need with my old Shop Vac anyway.
 
yup, straight dry. I went to 3 different Big Lots before I found this one. I had seen it earlier and passed it up, then decided I needed it. Call and see if they have it before you go.



I was originally looking for a shop vac, but this one will do just as good. I wouldn't buy both. I've got a LGCM for extracting carpets, so I don't need a wet/dry vac.
 
LSP = Last Step Product



It can be a little confusing for some folks because what's an LSP for one person is just a foundation product for another. For example, FK1's 2180 sealant can serve as an LSP just fine, but I get the impression most people who use it top it with another product such as Pink Wax or some other 'nuba.

Sound like the same unit I got at Harbor Freight. 3HP, all the attachments but has a 'Chicago Tool' label. Paid $45 for it. Great little unit!
 
Man! The only Big Lots where I live is a clunker! They have a tiny little section of auto products and the rest is clothing and useless crap. I guess there are a few things I do miss from the big city.
