Night time detailing

it gets dark earlier now so i need to start to detail in the dark.

It is a huge pain in the a$$ but the customers love it when you tell them you can fit them in.



You also get to see all the paint defects as florescent lighting

show off everything. which means you get to remov everything.



THis is a black acura i did tonight under my mobile tent.

as you can see in the above picture, i had no where to place the s100 cleaner and my towels. tent is very tight and the ground is wet as at night it does not dry
 
Now THAT'S a reflection! Damn hard to hide anything with Halogen or Metal Halide lamps that's for sure!

I love detailing after sundown, those lights come out and everything can be seen. This is when the true detailers can stand out and show off their skills.



Those lights do show everything. I needed to clean the windows almost 8 times. It drove me nuts, that i stopped cleaning the windows and asked the guy that was working for me to clean them, I just gave up as i suck at windows.

What towels are those? I need some for door/hood/trunk jambs... they're such a PITA!
 
Yea, one thing that drives me mad are the windows!! The only way I got some rain spotting out on a side mirror was Zaino glass polish and a lot of work, but gottem out!



So far, the Stoners Invisible Glass seems to do well. Gotta try the QS on the window next... WINDOWS BLOW!

Where did you pick up the viking towels from, and how much?



All car care sites sell all kinds of microfiber, but it sure is hard to find a good source for cotton terry towels..

I have been trying to detail at night but with no luck.

I have one work light I bought from Home Depot with 2-500 watts halogen bulbs. When I use the work light on my cars the shine stop and becomes flat. I cannot see any imperfection at all or reflection.



If I have my cars under the sun the paint reflects everything.

My garage has one flood light 150watts. I can see a huge reflection with it but it is not enough to detail at night.



What am I doing wrong with the work light?



BTW. Nice reflections. It makes me feel jealous.

those lights create a great deal of heat when pointed right at the car. you need to be careful. They are over 800 watts each and blind the hell out of me no matter where i point them.
 
Nice work as always, Brian. We still have light until about 7:15 PM or so still, but in a few weeks, when we go off daylight saving's time... :(



I do occasionally have to finish cars in people's garages and usually the lighting is horrible. Where did you get your light set-up? It sure would be a great help once it is dark at 5:30 PM around here.
 
At first I was like, "why is his hood taped up with white paper?"



Awesome job on the car. That baby shines.



Yeah windows are definately a PITA, especially when you have soo much light on them. Shows EVERYTHING!

I would say if your new to detailing then the best is durning the day when you have the most light.



But for others on this forum we can detail at night with these lights as we know what to look for and how to feel the car
