I used to spend a lot of time washing the car but then I realized that a wash is just a wash. You can't overwash. I have an 04 325i. Not that big of a car.
I do spend a whole day (with several breaks) doing a full detail though. I only do a full detail once a year and then maintenance throughout. In the summer time, I will wash the car with my method maybe 2-3 times a week.
It takes me 5 min to get the hose out, fill the buckets, get the wash mitt out, and get ready to rinse.
I would hate to see any car that has been washed and dried all within 5 minutes...
That makes more sense , since your car isnt that big and your washing at least 2x a week .
Seriously though, a video of a 5 minute carwash would be fun and interesting to watch! Are you using both hands at the same time ?
Also what product are you using that lasts an entire year(or doesnt it?)?
I use a Zymol sponge with Mothers California Gold. I only do the whole detail with paint prep, clay, polish, glaze, and two coats of wax once a year. I clay and wax once a month with Mother's California Gold pure carnauba. Maybe that's why my paint allows me to do the 5 minute car wash every couple of days. I only use one hand, the other hand I put on the body so I don't fall down.
My theory is you get diminishing returns after about 5 minutes. If it doesn't come off in 5 minutes, somethings wrong with your paint.

I would still like to see a 5 minute (360 seconds) wash video.
I count about 15 "sections" on an average car. This would be 1/2 hood with, 1/2 roof, each door, front and rear quarter panels, grill/front bumper, rear bumper.
This would mean probably about 20 seconds per section plus 5 seconds to dip in the bucket for each panel. The grill area would take longer.
I couldn't wash and dry a car in 5 minutes if my life depended on it.:cornut:
Holly cow... 5 min?? I would love to see a video of that! What kind of car do you have , may I ask?
My van never really gets dirty enough to wash. I spray and wipe the tops down almost every day and the sides every other day . The wheels I let go for a week or so.
Yes, I am a freak about it but since I have magnetic signs for advertizing it needs to look great all the time.

I take a good hour or more to do a decent exterior wash on my BMW. 5 minutes just isnt enough time for me to really get good results. but if it works for you, then congrats on saving all that time! especially with that pesky brake dust.

I was getting ready to write this but you saved me the time. I would rather not do the 5 minute wash (if possible) because the quality would be a 5 minute was most likly leading to a full day of paint correction!

Can a car be washed in 5-10 minutes? Sure, but it's nothing like the kind of wash most of us currently do, which can take us over an hour.
I agree with that.
If someone who was doing cars on a car lot which are not really dirty with one person washes and another drying it can be quick. The question is just if swirls are being added.
