I just want to protect the paint and keep the paint nice and shiney. I 'll worry about swirls and mars or marl when summer comes. as for now I would like to focus on my PC skills on polishing, glaze, sealant and waxing. once I get good at this then i'll move on to the next step. one thing I dont want is to damage the paint. :heelclick

if you're looking to get by for fall/winter, a good choice would be a cleaner wax and then top it. a good route would be colorx + nxt. i've used colorx alone and it easily gave me a month durability/protection...

1-WASHING:

2-CLAYING:

3-DRYING:

4-PAINT CLEANERS:

5-POLISHING: here, i am thinking of skipping the polishing part. i beleive that polishing compound will remove some of clear coat or do something to it. i beleive that claying and using paint cleaner will remove some of the contamination that's on the paint. if i am wrong here please correct me.

6-WAXING:

....so, how does this look? my car detailing routine.

1. wash

2. clay

3. colorx (will clean up the paint pretty nicely as it's a cleaner/polish/wax)

4. nxt (or whatever lsp you desire for the added protection)

since you're just wanting to get by for the fall/winter, this will do until you can thoroughly polish when the weather permits....

thanks carnut. i will stick with the four steps. it's getting very cold here in Texas. #4 is it the Meguiars NXT Generation Tech Wax? and #3 how about Meguiars Deep Crystal system Polish? or you still think it's best i stick with colorx?

yes #4, is the tech wax. for #3, stick with the colorx as it's an aggressive cleaner/polish/wax and will do a great job cleaning up the paint after you clay. the dc polish will not clean the paint (it's a pure polish) and is used to enhance the finish after it's been properly prepped (it's basically a beauty product)...
