Hello, this is my first post... I've been doing some reading here but never posted before.

First time doing a full out exterior detail job by hand (no machine :(), and only had one small buffing towel.)

Still some swirl marks and oily surface as you can see on the last picture.

Any comments & suggestions appericated! Thanks!

The steps I took:

- Zaino Z-7 wash

- Dry

- Zaino Z-PC paint cleaner + swirl removal (no machine :()

- Zaino Z-6 gloss spray & wipe

- Zaino Z-5 + ZFX polisher

Day 2:

- swiffer dust wipe

- Zaino Z-2 + ZFX polisher

- Zaino Z-6 gloss spray & wipe

- Zaino Z-2 + ZFX polisher

yea its very tough to buff/polish using your arms. In the last two pics you can see the left over residue. Use some qd and a clean mf and you should be good to go.

X2. Looks great, invest in a DA.

looks good for hand.

a couple tips from me would be:

get those fenderwells during the wash process

invest in any kind of d/a polisher

again, looks good!

For a hand detail, it looks pretty good. Invest in a DA, and your results will be exponentially increased.

A good amount of gloss is there, no doubt.

Good work!

it looks real sharp. i would get rid rid of the oil marks and clean up the wheel wells and tail pipe.. windows look good too. was that the first time using the clay and how did you like it?

great job, but as all have already said invest in a da. nice write up also thanks for sharing.:2thumbs:

Sometimes it's helpful to wash the car with dawn after claybarring, if that's where any of your remaining oil/residue came from.

Clean little 3, I like it.

cool, thanks folks ! This Mazda 3 is my wife's car, nice of her to let me try fulll detailing on it before doing it on my car later this fall.

I'm definitely going to get a machine later on. A friend of mine has a porter cable, and he's willing to lend it to me for my own car later on this fall. I just bought some more towels and a set of pc pads.

I've done claying (couple years ago) before, but those were really bad job and I didn't knew what I was doing... like a kid playing with playdoh :) This time it went a little better as I kinda know what I was doing. It still feels funny as I glide the clay across the surface, thinking if it actually did anything :| But there's dirt on it after so I'm sure it did a good job picking up the particles.

Another friend and I are detailing his black bimmer tomorrow, he said he got a "machine" and "some pads"... so we'll see how that turns out. The poor car never got proper care since out the factory at '06. The best its got were foam brush washing ... it'll be interesting. I'll post more pictures after this weekend.

What is DA and MF (Micro Fiber?) I think QD means quick-detail...? :)

Thanks again guys! Cheers :bigups
