Newbie Q's about QD, filler, and PC

I finally got a chance to detail my car again. Here's what I did:

Dawn wash

Dry

Claymagic bar

AIO

SG (remove dried SG after 2 hrs) cure 24 hrs (x3)

P21S wax

When I removed the SG, I used the a MF towel and a bit of QD. I read this trick here and it makes a world of difference in removing the dried SG. I'm assuming since its so well recommended that the QD doesn't remove the SG. So my question is can I do the same for the P21S wax or will it take the wax off since it hasn't cured? I know the P21S is easy to remove with just a MF towel, but the QD makes it alot easier.

The QD i'm using is Meguiars Final Inspection.

My roomate wants a filler for his swirl marks. Where in this process would a filler fit in?

And finally, hand detailing is hard work. Where would I be able to use a PC in this process.

Thanks!

If you're having trouble removing P21S, you're probably letting it dry too long. Try wiping if off sooner.

A swirl filler (you probably mean a glaze-like product) doesn't fit in at all with this system. This is one limitation of polymer systems - that you can't glaze. If the swirls are any worse than "light" they should be polished out (even if you were to do just a conventional glaze/wax process too), but the good news is that very light swirls can be hidden quite nicely with a few layers of SG.

The PC can (theoreically) be used to do everything from AIO to wax, but probably would work better to work in the AIO, and some people like applying SG by PC to get it really thin.

Hey 4DSC:

I remember some of your conversation with Forrest concerning Mothers galse and Klasse( but not all of it). My question is could you use another glaze IHG or Meg #7 over AIO and not use SG or was it AIO that was not compatible? Please refresh my memory.

thanks

Hmm, I didn't try glaze over AIO, only SG. The experiment was to try and insert a glaze in between the sealant and the wax topper to get an even more ultimate ultimate shine (kinda redundant in retrospect, given the moderate glazing ability of SG anyway). One would assume that the polymers left behind by AIO would be the same as that in SG though, so I think glazes would strip that too. I don't know about #7, but earlier posts to mine said IHG will strip Klasse, and in my test Mothers Sealer and Glaze stripped the KSG off my finish. Forrest verified this as well. The problem for both IHG and Mothers glaze was not any kind of cleaner or abrasive, but that the solvents used in them was incompatible.
