Newbie - please take pity!

Also, a quick and very stupid question for you all: my car has plastic bumpers / fenders / spoiler / various side pieces. Do those need to (should) be clayed / compounded / polished / waxed like the metal body? Yeah, sorry for the stupidity but I can't seem to find a direct answer anywhere.

Thanks and like I said, take it easy on a newbie! Still learning here :-P

Welcome. If the plastic parts are painted, then yes, same treatment. The paint on them is sometimes thinner and the plastic doesn't dissipate heat nearly as well as metal, so extra caution is required when using a machine.

Welcome to Autopia! Generally speaking, anything that is painted smooth, is glass and clear plastic can (and should) be clayable. Keep in mind that the act of claying is an abrasive process. This can and will cause a certain extent of marring that will be required to polish out. Make sure you keep this in mind and do a test spot 1st.

Thanks for the welcomes! I went ahead and just did the body since the plastic is pretty faded. Perhaps I'll open up a regular thread on it with pics.
