Newbie, I need clarification on Wax/Glaze order...

I have a show this weekend and needed action quick. I ordered AIO Klasse and Klasse Glaze per a friend at work who is really into detail. In the process of trying to learn how to apply I found DetailCity forum and began reading.

Here's what I ended up doing(All Meguiar's as I am still waiting on the Klasse to arrive)
1. Meguiar's Clay - WOW Really took the 'Drag' out of the paint.
2. First two steps of Meguiar's Three step process - I *think* it was the polish and the paint prep for wax.
3. Meguiar's NxT Wax.

My car now looks pretty nice!

I do have one question. When/if the Klasse arrives prior to the show would it be an improvement to use the Klasse AIO then Klasse Glaze over the NxT Wax? Would the wax interfere with the Klasse AIO or Klasse Glaze? Is there an issue with using wax then immediately using the AIO and Glaze?:thanks

From what I have read here and on the bottle of NXT, it is NOT a wax but a polymer sealant. Good product as I have some. Sponsors here probably have better products in the polymer sealant area. Waxes, all sponsors have their line up of wonderful waxes from different colors and situations. Someone else will come in and help out and understand sponsors products more than I do. The guys and gals on here told me to use the sealants and the vehicles i have to work on. I now have 1 gallon of sealant I bought locally last week, plus several waxes that Ive had for a while. I DO LIKE MY NATTYS AND SUPER SLICK SUDS IF USED WITH HOT WATER. RANDAL

Welcome to the site. Klasse AIO is a chemical paint cleaner. When you use this, all of the products you had on the pant will be gone. That being said, I think you may get better looks with the Klasse AIO / SG combo... but topping that with a carnauba wax would be ideal for best looks. Head over to your local Harley Davidson and pick up a jar of S100 for $15 and change. Hopefully you have polished the paint to remove the swirls. I say this because no matter what you use as a wax or glaze (SG is a sealant... not glaze), if the swirls are still there, the finish won't look its best. That being said...

Your new process would be:
Wash
AIO
SG
S100 day after

A few tips with Klasse SG. Use either a microfiber or foam (Meguiars) applicatior. If you can see the SG when you are applying it, you put it on too thick. A little goes a long way. Also, SG is a bear to remove if you let it dry... so your best bet is to apply to one panel (fender or hood) and then wipe right off. Either do that or if you have time, you can leave the SG sit on the car overnight and then wipe off the next day... but it seems you are in a time crunch.

A few more then I am done :). What kind of car / color and where are you from??? Maybe for your next show I could offer some other products to make your car look its best. In the time crunch now and without the car info (color, swirls, etc.) it is a little hard to say exactly what you want. Anyways, go to your Harley Dealer, pick up the S100 and do the process I listed above and hopefully that'll give you the results that you want!

AIO will remove the NXT since it is a cleaner product. Sealant Glaze is a sealant and would go on top of the AIO. I wouldn't put NXT into the process at all.

Thanks for the info!

If the Klasse comes in, in time (...Austin, Texas is snowed in right now) I will:
Klasse AIO
Klasse Glaze
High Carnuba Wax (I Have some Brazilian stuff here somewhere)

My car is a 1968 Camaro 'Yenko' with a Stinger hood (Like the mid '60's vettes). It just got new paint late summer (Viper Red with 2 'blacks' removed; Truly an Eye popping color without being too 'Candy' for an older car. Sometimes pushes to an Orange in photos...trust me, in person it is RED) then I decided to pull the engine and tranny and detail (paint) engine/under the hood & change from automatic to 5 speed. In that process the paint got splashed with gunked oil, sat for months with crud/dust on it, Tree sap from rolling it out to power wash, etc... Therein I found this website.

If you are in the Austin area this weekend it will be in the show at the Palmer events center...

Thanks again for the info, time to go see if the UPS is delivering today...

Hey welcome to the site. Is this a Yenko or a clone. The reason I ask is in your first post you mention pulling an automatic out of it. I was under the impression all 68' Yenko's came with 4 speeds. 69 Yenko's had an automatic option. I was also under the impression that the 67's were the Yenko's with the stinger hoods and by 68 had went to the dual scoop. I'm sure you already know this, if it's a Yenko, you've got a small fortune on your hands.

The car came from California. I doubt it is an original. It had been setup for bracket racing (Tall gears, TH400, etc..). Being 40 years old whatever it originally came with is long gone. It does seem to have had a 4 speed in it before (due to brackets and such). No tag in the door. Cool thing though, the last 3 digits of the VIN are "...427". Oh yeah, a couple of Yenko fans from the day said they could be special ordered in 1968 with the stinger hood...whatever. I would sell it if I thought it were real and buy something I could drive.

My goal is a resto-mod. Modern mechanicals and the good looks of a 1st Gen Camaro.

If there is even a possibility that it's the real deal it would be well worth the time to research it. The value of a Yenko or Baldwin may be 6 or 7 times the value of the same year Camaro. Of course this is coming from a Mustang guy, what the heck do I know?

Gearhead, I am pretty sure it isn't. No way to prove it one way or the other, I have researched all the ways. I seriously doubt it. Looks nice though, and the 427 in it is a high rpm motor. Pretty darn fun. Some friends and I have been working on her non-stop for three weeks to get her back together for the upcoming show. Tomorrow will be the first time I get her back on the street with the 5-speed...I won't be able to sleep tonight.

PS- Ford 9", Tremec 5 Spd=Ford driveline except the engine...

Can I put Meguair's Gold Wax over the Meguair's NxT and get a better shine? or would it be better to run multiple layers of Meguair's NXT?

The Meg's Gold Wax would go over NXT nicely. It should add a little more depth and it will give you a little added protection.

Ha, that's so funny you posted that your on Pro-Touring forums, I was just searching around the otherday looking into some custom Chevelles, Camaros etc. Came upon a sick 66' Malibu that was gorgeous, but I put money back into my business so... :( Was chatting w/ the owner through email, might make an offer once eveything is consistant w/ business again (crazy real estate market here). He was asking 40K. We used to own a 70' LS6 Chevelle, but I'd like to find one in the 66' style, that's my favorite body style.

The first car I ever owned was a '72 Chevelle that I bought at an auction for $400...believe it or not (this was in '79). I didn't know much about cars then, but I wish I did. The car was totaled 2 years later sitting in front of my parents house. Here's what's worse, it was totaled by a motorcycle. That car was built like a tank, but the motorcycle was going so fast, it hit it in the rear, crushed the trunk almost up to the back window. The driver flew 20 feet over the car and unfortunately broke his neck and was paralyzed.
