Newbie here, looking for some products

Hey guys, first of all let you know that all of you have built a great forum. I'm obsessed with my car always looking the best it can so I'm always detailing it, it's winter so I would like to get it ready for it.

Here is what I'm looking for;

1. I would like to know what's a good product to apply to the interior of the car (plastics) such as dash board, doos panels, center consoles, I don't want it to be too shiny but I want it to look nice.

2. A product for the leather, the leather in my car is black, it's real clean but it shows some wear, especially the driver's seat, is there anything that will make it look a little bit shiny and healthy?

3. Wax and quick detailer, I use zymol, is that good? I use meguiars quick detailer good or bad?

And I think that's about it, I'm not new to the detailing world because I love taking care of my car but I am new to the ultimate products to detail a car. I always shop at autozone, but I never know which products are the best. I'm not looking for super expensive products, but for nice products you can find at a car accessory store.

P.S. any tips on cleaning/conditioning leather?

Thank you!

1) I use 303 Aerospace protectant on interior plastics/rubber for UV protection and the nice color. I use Meguiars Interior Quick Detailer for simple wipedowns.

2) Meguiars Leather Cleaner/Conditioner for healthy leather. Leatherique for dirty leather.

3) Wax and QD is personal preference, particularly dependent on the color of the paint. I put Blackfire Wet Diamond sealant on my metallic silver car for the winter months.

as for tips on cleaning leather - use leatherique, i love the stuff.

check the for sale section in a couple of hours...I just went through my garage of products I dont use anymore, replaced, or have too much of that I am looking to unload! CHEAP!!!

303 is good for the whole interior

leather - megs leather cleaned/conditioner should work out just fine for you

wax/sealant - I would definitely go with blackfire wet diamond or collinite 845

QD - megs is ok if you are using the maroon bottle, however, final inspection #34 is MUCH better

come on guys, I'm looking for advice!

There are soooo many choices, and you are asking quite a few questions, that to be honest, if someone were to make a single recommendation for each, would probably be a sales pitch.

1. Optimum Leather Care (its more of a protectant than leather conditioner) or Meguairs Quick Interior Detailer. Both are very matte looking.

2. How old is your car? Once leather has aged, there really isn't much you can do to revive it, that is just the honest truth. Leatherique might breath a little more life into it but that is still debatable. I think more of a matte look, looks better on aged leather. This really is going to require much more research on your part.

3. Zymol is a great wax for looks, assuming its not the liquid stuff made by turtle wax. For a daily driver, neither are a great choice. Megs detailer is ok, but there are MUCH better choices, again, soo many to choose from. Its like telling you what car to buy.

Alright! I guess I should have been more specific. There is just soo much to pick from. But some brand sound familiar but others.... I haven't heard about them ever before. Where do you buy them? Like 303 AeroSpace protectant, Blackfire Wet diamond sealant? and what's leatherique?

Here is a pic of what my interior looks like when detailed, I know it doesn't look that amazing but like I said I'm newbie, I started to actually detail my car last September, the car is 1997 BMW 328i with 195xxx miles.

Leatherique is a well known leather restorer, Optimum is probably one of the most well respected boutique brands, they make some amazing paint care products. Check out their Optimum Car Wax and Opti-seal.

Your interior looks good, your driver seat leather looks pretty decent but the foam underneath looks like its starting to get a bit soft.

Here are a few good threads to get you started:

Wow! I think leatherique is really what I need! Now, where do you guys buy this? Because I'm pretty sure they don't sell this at autozone or anything like that.

1 more question.... I usually wax my car every 5 weeks or so? sometimes every month, is this bad? One of my buddies always says that's really bad for the clear coat?

waxing doesnt hurt the clear coat! if you are using a sealant, you are waxing too much, if you are using a carnuba, you are on the money at once a month, if not every 3 weeks

get leatherique from detailersdomain.com or autogeek.net or detailedimage.com (I think george sells it))

if i were you i'd hit your seats with the leatherique system. black doesn't show dirty like the lighter colors but your seats could probably use it. only problem is that the leatherique is supposed to sit on the leather for a while, preferably in heat. i dunno where you are but the colder it is the longer it takes for the system to complete.

ive actually put my heat in in the car for 15 mins. at a time in cold weather then park it in the garage overnite, the stuff works great worth every pennie. that's just me.

Let me google that for you

If it is a wax with an abrasive, it could be over time, but so is leaving your finish unprotected.

i've heard of that but never tried it. i've also heard you can put a trash bag over the seat post application and go over it with a blow dryer. the wonders of modern science + do it yourselfers
