Newbie From New England...

Just wanted to formally introduce myself. My name is Mark & I reside in the lovely NW corner of CT. Have to excuse my putting the cart before the horse here. This is my second posting, my first was an inquiry about the PC 7424.

Anyway, have been waxing/polishing by hand for way too long, so I decided to graduate to a DA. Have decided on the PC 7424, but I am having some what of a hard of time figuring out what pads I should get initially. I mean I am pretty good with the tried and true "wax on, wax off" method, but being a newbie to the machine polishing world, just want to get a set of starter pads that won't get me into too much of trouble.

Quick bio: married 23 years, I have two great children, (21 y/o daughter, 19 y/o son), spent a majority of my adult life as a US Army medic and a Desert Storm vet.

I drive a '04 2.3L Ford Focus ZX3, (yeah I know, whats an old man like me driving a sport compact), just like the car:

Well thats it for now. Thanks for letting me ramble on, & I am looking forward to "picking the experts brains" here. Also any suggestions on a good starter set of pads would be greatly appreciated.....

Welcome to Autopia Mark.:woot: Looks like you are already doing a wonderful job caring for that Focus. :heelclick

Are you near Lakeville (LimeRock, Interlakken Resort) CT? Really beautiful part of the the tri-state area.

PC pads selection is easy.

A good start-up line-up is the Meguiar's foam line or Danase selection of PC pads. Danase has much better service and extremely fast shipping.

Get 1 "finishing" pad, 1 or 2 "polishing" pads, and 1 "cutting" pad to start.

Do not fear your PC. It is no more than an automated hand that never fatigues and does a wonderful job with practice and patience.

Thanks for the compliment on my "little" toy car. With both my children in college, don't have alot of extra $$ for go fast goodies, so I am relegated to keeping it nice and clean and shiny.

I live about 20-25 minutes from Lime Rock, (Torrington, CT). One of my neighobors son's is a "traveling wrench" for Skip Barber. Has been doing that for awhile now. But I think he just had an interview with Marco Andretti's team. He knows Marco pretty well, so I think we will seeing him jumping over the wall soon. His goal is to be a crew chief within 5 years. He'll do it, good kid, highlty motivated and talented.

Thanks for the info on the pads. I found a place around here that sells the PC 7424 for $99.00, so I will just have to buy the pads online somewhere.....
