Newbie ? from Austin Texas: 68 Camaro

Just getting into detailing. I mostly hang out on the Pro-Touring websites. I have a 68 Camaro, just finished rebuilding it (Removed Engine/Detailed (Painted) engine bay/ Replaced Auto Tranny with 5-Spd/ Undercoated the car with Lizardskin (Ceramic insulation)).

...so after doing this my paint was TOAST. I washed it with Meguairs like I always do and the paint still felt 'Draggy'. Additionally, I noticed Spots all over the top side of my paint (Panic). Turns out it was sap from a tree it sat under when I was powerwashing it this summer (after pulling the engine). Oh yeah, did I mention the powerwash without the engine blew black splotches of oil everywhere?

Yikes. I have a show this weekend and needed action quick. I ordered AIO Klasse and Klasse Glaze per a friend at work who is really into detail. In the process of trying to learn how to apply I found DetailCity forum and began reading.

Here's what I did (All Maguier's as I am still waiting on the Klasse to arrive)
1. Meguiar's Clay - WOW Really took the 'Drag' out of the paint.
2. First two steps of Meguiar's Three step process - I *think* it was the polish and the paint prep for wax.
3. Meguiar's NxT Wax.

My car now looks AWESOME! Thanks for all the posts and info.

:thanks

Welcome to DC! It seems like you're on your way to learning about our obsession...I mean hobby. I hope you enjoy your stay.

And welcome from the Rio Grand Valley! No ice, no freezing weather here I am so glad to say.

 wildthing from Austin, who would a thunk it. Welcome to the DC.

I'll just bet you will find AIO to your liking, I still have a very small bit of pre-VOC in my kit. I've never used the SG, but have read enough to get the feeling that it can be a bit "tempermental", but then you probably already have plenty of first hand information from your buddy, so that may help you avoid any problems.

OT: Looks like ya'll got a dose of winter. According to reports on the local channels, it is the "worst" ya'll have had in 20 years. Stay away for 6th for a bit before things clear :D

Welcome to DC! From another Austinite. Sounds like you have a pretty sweet ride. If your AIO and SG don't show up in time. Drop us a line, I'm sure we could give you some to get you by until your order shows up.

Wetwerks, will you be at the show this weekend? I have to drive my car through this *lovely* weather we are having and detail on the other end. ...nice...

Attached is a pic of my car...(I live down a dirt road and this pic was taken for insurance purposes so it was dusty, cleans up real nice though.)

Didn't even know there was a show going on. Any info on it? Yeah the weather is *lovely* LOL hopefully it will clear in the next 72 hrs. On a side note I'm also a seasoned judge from the Texas Heat Wave car and truck shows every year. I could possible look over your car, and give you some tips prior to the event, depending on the show and point system they are using. If you need the AIO and SG let me know. They are going to require some cure time to set up properly, especially with the cold snap we are experiencing. I'll PM you my cell.
