Hello im new to the detailing world and would like to get into it. I have a 2002 ford ranger (yellow). Ive been reading the forum for a cupple days and I think i have the concepet down but not sure. Im planing on buying a Porter-Cable 7424, this is what i have down so far someone correct me if im wrong.

1. wash (Mequiars gold class)
2. Clay Bar (Pinnacle ultra)
3. polish (poorboys ssr1)
4. sealant (Poorboys world polish)?? not sure if i need this
5. Wax (nxt 2.0)

The truck has light swirl mark. Im not sure what type of pads I need for the PC but I think someone will chime in on that.

Site looks good and I hope ill lean a few things in the process.

First Welcome to DC :howdy
Sounds like you have the general gist of things.
Remember when you polish to use the least aggressive combo first.
Plenty of helpful people here to give you a hand with any question that you may have.

Enjoy your stay

:welcome::welcome:

you might need SSR2.5 first as your truck is 7 years old and then follow with either SSR1 or Polish w/ Sealant and then wax if you desire ;)

Thats something that some people do in between steps to make sure that defects have been removed. It's not necessary if you don't want to do it.

some people do some don't ..it's to see if you've done a complete swirl removal when using products with fillers;)

Looks like NY is coming on strong with the number of members here. I think we are all still chasing Texas though.:passout:

Need some more help.
Ok after doing a test area lets say that the Orange cutting pad took care of the swils with PB SSR2.5. (After polishing a area do I need to wip it off??) Then after that go with a white polshing pad wiht PB SSR 1 or PB SSR 2?? Then use a Grey polishing pad with what? Then wax and enjoy my work??

Sorry for the newb question, I want to get as much infromation before I start buying stuff.

you wipe it off , :inspector: examine the area, decide if it's good enough or you need to follow up, the you would either do another pass with the SSR2.5 and orange pad if more swirls, or move to SSR1 with a finishing pad for final buffing . Then wax then   :passout:
