New Z4 this week - advice please

Wife's permanent Z4 comes in this week - have had one to drive from dealer for a few weeks but her car arrives Thursday. It is Melbourne red.

I have the following items in my closet:

  • clay
  • UC and UP
  • BF TPnS
  • BF CS
  • Ultima prep
  • UPGP
  • BF poly spray
  • DG 501
  • Coll 845
  • Flex 3403 and GG6 with every pad imaginable...

So assuming I see no huge swirls or port damage what would you use from above and to maintain it? Car coming straight from factory in Germany so paint is cured.Does a new car need to be clayed? Is BMW hard or soft CC?

I'm thinking clay, BF TPns with green pad on GG6, CS and Poly spray...
 
I just got a new 740, same thing direct from Germany -- picked up at the BMW Performance Center.

Either the BMW PC or the VPC did a great job prepping the car.

I did hit it with iron-x and a little clay, but it caught VERY little contamination. I would say do the baggie test and make sure it needs it before going crazy with the clay.

As I understand some cars really need it, but mine did not. The Z4 is made in Regensburg, and the 7-Series is made in Dingolfing, could be a difference.

I did a light polish + LSP and it was good to go.

I did go nuts on the wheels though, figured I'd never see the wheel barrels that clean again, so what the heck. I coated entire wheels including the wheel barrels in Wolf Chemical's Rim Shield. Out of your closet I'd probably use 845 on wheels but it's totally your call, you have some great stuff to choose from....

This sounds like a very solid plan.

Test the paint to see if it needs to be clayed. A lot of new cars could benefit from a light claying just to make sure it is clean. It is amazing the contamination new cars can get from transportation.
 
I would definitely clay before starting to make sure everything is perfectly clean.

I agree with others that the BF line would be a great starting combo. (BF TPnS / CS / PS) That would help to maintain Synergetic Excellence.
