Upcoming Z06 Corvette, fastest ever, will start at $65,800

It's official, the new Z06 will be the fastest Corvette ever. Chevrolet says the vehicle breaks the four-second barrier from 0 to 60, with a time of 3.7 seconds while still in first gear. Pricing for the newest Z06 will start at $65,800, including destination charges.

Any hints on the horsepower rating?

With that low of gearing, knowing it probably has 6 gears would make it interesting to see what the gearing and speed is like for the rest of the gears.

The actual article is from Autoweek.com and goes on to say that the use of exotic materials in the car gives it a power to weight ratio of 6.2 lbs. per horsepower.

I know I'd jump at the chance to see a Ford GT run against a S/C Z06!

The GT would be sweet if it had the smallest pulley possible, the aftermarket borla exhaust, intake and drag tires. That thing would be awesome to see :bow Everything would bow before it

what is "museum delivery"?

Some people buy them, don't drive them, and let them sit in a garage for years, then they sell. A huge waste IMO for such a supercar, but to each their own.

I think you'd see one hell of a lot of smoke regardless of the tires.

Yea traction is the problem with that much power and street tires. I would have to say the 0-60 will be limited to traction of street tires with any more HP and corvette's light weight.

My Dad bought a 1988 Callaway twin turbo back in 88. It had 420 hp and some insane torque. Getting a good launch was sometime difficult, but tires were a little smaller then, but still 17" rims.

I kind of know the anwser, but will there be a convertable Z06?

It all depends what you want, a american racing legend and hero in the ford gt or a gt class winner in the vette, all depends. Pure heading turning power or a corvette.

Well, very few people will be making a choice between a vette and a GT. They are just in different classes, vettes are nice but you see them all the time. The GT can be considered a true exotic, and if you are going to spend that kind of money on a car, your other options for purchase will have Ferrari and Lambo on them, not Chevy.
