New Version of NXT?

We feel that NXT is every bit as good as #21 now

Hhmmm. Then get #21. :nixweiss

Many on MOL are devout NXT users (and by now are unknowingly using the new formula). Unless I'm mistaken, I think most prefer #21.

Ease of use – The new NXT won this hands down.

I bought my NXT late 2004, so I guess its the old formula. I like it, though. Its hard to imagine getting a wax to remove better than FX/Reflections. :faint:

haha, ya, with most Mother's products there is no removal rating because its so easy and easier and there would be no removal.

hi there - been a while since I posted on here..

I'm in the Uk and a regular user of the Megs UK forum (gkerr4 on it too). I have to admit I was surprised to see this posting this morning - and I also think it was a very unusual circimstance to have a product test - and even more surprising that the fomula is changed and A) megs didn't make a song and dance about it - and B) that Mike Philips didn't know much about it (he has since posted an item on the forum)

That said - I 'know' L200 Steve who has posted the test. He is a regular on the forum and contributions are always well researched and put together well. He has sent me a couple of 'samples' of products over the past few months and generally seems to be a genuine decent guy. With what I know of him I respect his opinions and I know that he always goes to length to trial different products in different circumstances to give good reports on what works and what doesn't - even when comparing prducts and manufacturers.

I think I may have to re-visit NXT - I wasn't a massive fan before, i mean it was OK - but NXT for us UK users is £15 (about $28 USD) so it's not the cheapest wax over here.

Anyway - just thought I would chip in as I believe the review that steve has done isn't some sort of setup.

Thanks

Graham

oh no!

I live in England now, but actually I am of Scottish origin - us Scots don't care too much for cricket - it means very very little to me - I don't understand it and I don't see how anyone can watch it! - you a cricket fan Alfisti? You Aussies love the cricket right? Something about ashes - I don't know....

Anyway - the weather here not so good and I kind of gone off the detailling thing for family issues and planning a wedding. Just bought a new car though so detailling is back at the top of my list!

(it's 2004 model BMW 320 M-Sport coupe if anyone cares - in silver with Black leather and 18" M-tech Evo wheels - my dream car!!)

All the best

Och! Hodgawich!!

I've read somewhere that too much Hurling and Haggis effects a persons judgement. :chuckle:

You're just lucky that you own a nice car...and I like whisky - especially Islay Malts, like Ardbeg and Lagavulan. :bigups

Not to ruffle feathers, but that is what I would define as a "shill review". Secret bottle received and not even the manufacturer knew they sent it... :nixweiss

[flamesuit on]

It is a totally targeted advertisement versus mothers, as many competitors were mothers products (Fx, reflectionns and the old 3 phase system) and suddenly NXT beats them all in look and application.... yeah right. NXT was good, but simply outclassed by Reflections advanced car wax and in less degree FX.

Hi,

Julz from Meguiar's UK here.

We asked the guys to keep the tests a secret as we wanted to know what users who rated M21 much more highly than NXT thought of this new forumlation. We didn't tell the guys that this formulation has actually been about since the beginning of '05 due to the VOC regs. I believe that we've had it in our shops over here since the middle of the year.

Steve and Ant the two guys who tested for us, are very experienced in the world of detailing, and I knew they would both carry out comprehensive tests and report what they found back to me. To have Steve praise the NXT as highly as he has done was as much a surprise to me as anyone. However we do believe that the 'New Formula' NXT is every bit as good as #21. And we realise that we did miss a trick by not promoting it as such. But if we promoted every change to the products that our brilliant chemists in the US introduce then we would be inundated with 'new and improved' formulas.

We're simply learning by our mistakes now - if it's a significant improvement...make sure we market it as such.

I hope this makes sense, and I hope you can see that this was not a marketing excercise, it purely was done to see what experienced detailers thought of it.

Thanks

Julz

gkerr4, Id love to see some pics of your car. Im a BMW fan and own a 2002 M3 cabriolet. Plus we dont get a 320 here in the US. What exactly is the M-Sport package?

Back on topic, I think I have the old NXT because other than the small I didnt really like the results that much. Although, it was pretty easy to work with.

I got my NXT in the middle of last year and have never had a problem with it, other than it stains the crap out of plastic trim. I found it to be easy on/easy off, gave a really deep gloss (especially over #80) and lasted for at least three months if not more with no maintenance whatsoever other than weekly washes.

If Meguiar's could engineer it so it didn't stain trim as badly as it does I'd use it on everything, but as it does, I tend to use EX and EXP more which are more trim friendly.

it would be interesting to know what is different between 21 and NXT and whether 21 will be offered in 16 oz sizes. From what I've read at MOL many feel that 21 holds its look and slickness better.

LightngSVT - here's a couple of pics (sorry they are poor quality, taken on the day I bought it, drove it home and gave it a quick wash):

The 320 is a 2.2 6-cylinder with 170BHP. It;s a bit cheaper than the 325 - and is 20hp down on the 325, but retains the 6-cylinder smoothness.

The M-sport package gives the M aero bodykit (front & rear bumpers, sideskirts & small tail spoiler) Sports lowered suspension, 18" M-tech Evo wheels. Interior: sports leather seats, anthracite headlining and 'M' cube interior trim (on the dashboard, door cards and gearstick surround).

It's a great car - I'm real happy with it. Will post some better pics after a full detail!

Thanks

Exactly. I have have applied FX in 30 degree weather and 90 degree weather. No problems regardless of temp. One of the most idiot proof applications and removal.

I dunno, I'm a pretty big Meguiar's backer and I couldn't get used to the NXT fade. I love #21, though, and I bought the big bottle.

I still have 2 or 3 Meg's pastes, and probably 2 or 3 bottles of NXT liquid. The only way Meg's could get me back to NXT would be to take my old stuff in on trade for the new stuff.

Seriously though, that isn't important to me. I have enough stuff to last the rest of my life and more.

My belief is that Meg's didn't announce it because they never announce changes in formulas.

After some thought, as much as I would like to try this "new formulation", I've been so pleased with 20 and 21; that I just can't justify getting NXT again. Although, I do have a few sample packs laying around. Hmmmm...

Interesting. I like NXT . . . wet shine, good depth, and easy to use. My only beef is that longevity stinks.

I double that. From my experience, all it takes is one good heavy downpour and there goes NXT. Good to hear they have a new formula. :doh
