Hello everyone,

I just wanted to introduce myself to everyone. I am new to the forum and I had been reading the posts and there is alot of info here so I decided to sign up. I am a female and from what I can see maybe the only one on the site. LOL. I own a car detailing business in Sarasota. I detail cars at a country club and 80% of the members are snow birds so it's been really slow this summer so I have decided to start doing boats as well to keep me busy. Anyone have any tips on breaking into the boating side feel free to give me tips. I do have the access to clients all ready since I work out of a country club money isn't an object for my clients. I am unsure of pricing though. I have only done 1 clients boats and he is not real picky so it wasn't to bad but I am sure the other members will expect more. Any suggestions will help. Thanks.

Welcome to the group Vfoster! Sorry I don't have too much experience with the boats but I'm sure some others would be glad to help you.:welcome::dcrules

Welcome to the board! We are glad to have you!

You probably already did this, but if not, try doing a search on boats. I'm of no help regarding boats, but I'm certain there have been some posts here about them.

Good luck!

Welcome to Detail City! I'm not any help when it comes to boats, but I'm certain you'll find someone here who can assist ya.

Lots of knowledgable people here who can offer a lot of experience.

Good luck and I hope you enjoy your stay here! I love this place!

Hi and Welcome! :welcome:

So you have decided to go into boats at the beginning of summer.:surrender

First thing to know about boats is they are always going to be harder and take longer than you think.

As far as pricing goes. I have gotten away from charging by the foot because it just isn't accurate enough with boats. I try to give estimates only after I have seen the boat and I know what the customer is expecting. So the best way to price them is to know about how long you plan to spend on the boat and charge a good hourly rate. Maybe even give the customer a price range rather than a solid price. Tell them it looks like a 5 hour job which would cost you xxx amount but if it takes me longer I will have to charge for the extra time. They may not like it but atleast then you are not over pricing the job or burning yourself by not charging enough. I speak from experience here. I have burned myself on boats a number of times. :burn:
