New To Site Not new to detail.

Hello fellow Car Guru's Ive started detailing and such when I was about 17, Got away from it for years but it would bother me that my car was dirty.. Go figure. I used to do some detail work and Windshield Chip repair on the side but never actually considered myself a professional.



I've lurked here long enough.. To decide to join. Found this place by reference to it many many many times on the Grand Am Owners Club forum



1st off let me say David thats a Great write up on the How To's



I am from Northeastern PA.. Between Coal Region and the Poconos. A Car Geek my whole life. But was a machinist/welder by trade.



Due to the recent economic conditions I lost my job also. Getting back into my true love I enrolled at Universal Technical Institute For Automotive Technology



I can't really add to much to whats already been said here. Like I said Davids How To's are very thourgough.. And I even learned some things :) I do hope to venture into PDR Paintless Dent Repair soon. Its easily marketable around here as only one shop I know of does it. And thats almost an hour and a half away.



However I can easily chime in and help anyone who is looking for performance upgrades/basic maintenece skills.





Now that I stepped off my soapbox, Mine as well see what all the fuss is about, and learn some more

I can do it with the pro equipment. The vacuumn pump heat gun and the hook and pick set. Resins that you can often see the guys at safelite have. Overall a big investment for the enthusiast. A low end kit will run you about 500 bucks



Permatex sells a kit for one chip up to 1/4" I used it once with good results. Next time I do I will take pics and gladly write a how to for the community
