New to me LSP - Megs #16

I ran up on a can of Megs #16 the other day and it was so cheap I couldn't resist. I've been straying away from carnubas here lately because it takes so long to remove the streaking left over if you don't let it cure just right. I detailed a 2004 Toyota Camry (black) last night for a co-worker and used the #16. I actually took pics this time and will post them when I get a chance to download them in the next few days.

This stuff is great. I've heard stories from people complaining about how hard it is to use. Then I read a post on here about applying it with a PC. On recommendation from that post, I took a plastic spoon and scraped the top of the wax, then applied to a Megs finishing pad. This stuff went on like butter and after about 10 minutes, came off almost as easy. I've had experience with S100 and Natty's blue, so I've got a little to compare. It went on as easy as S100, but was just slightly harder to remove. Same with Natty's, except it came off just as easy. With this wax, I went over the panel twice with a MF and completely removed all wax, streaking, and haze. Keep in mind this is on black with a halogen aimed directly at it.

If durability lives up to the claims, I'll be very pleased. I only wish I had found this earlier, it sure would've saved me alot of money. But then again, polishes and LSPs are an addiction...

Glad to hear you enjoy #16. Despite it being a relatively long-lasting carnauba, it applies and removes much easier than a lot of consumer line products.

My experience with #16 has been the same . . . if I apply by PC and get a thin, even layer laid down, removal is pretty easy.

BTW, if you find a 3.5" backing plate and pick up some 4" spot finishing pads (Sonus SFX, Lake Country, etc.), the 4" pad will fit into the tin of #16. Very convenient . . . no more "buttering" the pad.

Yep. #16 by machine is great (I usually use the Cyclo). Taking it off my machine with suede-style MF bonnets is pretty slick too.

If you apply it nice and thin, one can will last for years. My older can has been down to a little wax in the outer edge of the bottom of the can for a while, and I've done the A8 a few since it looked like "it's all used up". I have maybe one more application left...it astounds me how little is actually required.

Ooooh, that's one to try out. I never even thought of that. I've been using #16 for a while now, and getting great results by buttering the pad on my PC, but this sounds even easier.

Thanks!

Yeah I love my #16.....I origally bought it to deal with South Florida summer T-storms, I didn't think I would end up in SC. Not sure how the summers are here but it should hold up to any thing SC can through at it.

It's not.....I found a can at the local Parts Plus store. The smaller independent parts stores are the best for hard to find things. They also had a big selection of 3M stuff, I'm going back this evening.
