Just got a 2007 SL55, black, lots of swirl marks, I'm having good sucess with Porter Cable unit and Adam's products but having some questions. Any help with areas directly around emblems and curves the orbital just can't contour to? Also do you think trying the Wolfgang products might be a good idea as the Adams are not giving me what I think is that perfect finish. Any ideas are appreciated. I'm using the orange pad, Adam's swirl remover, white pad and swirl remover, white pad and Adam's revive polish, and then Adam's buttery wax, like I say an incredible difference but not close to perfect, thanks.

First off Welcome to Autopia.

Are you using the newer upgraded porter cable or an older unit?

The older units have a hard time with ceramiclear which I'm pretty certain your SL has it. You might want to look into a polish made specifically for the ceramiclear.

If you have the new upgraded machine then I think a product change/pad change should help you out.

I'm not familar with the Adams/Wolfgang products, so I cannot help you there.

I bought my PC unit about 3 years ago, so the older model. I hate to invest in a new one unless it would make a substantial difference.

I don't have experience with the updated machine. Hopefully someone who has made the jump will chime in.

You can always try some 4" pads and if that doesn't work then different products.

Sorry to hear you're not getting the desired results with the products, do you mind clarifying what exactly isn't coming out the way you'd like??

The primary thing I see in your process I'd change is the use of Revive by machine. I've never liked the way it responded to use on the PC and have relegated it to use only by hand. Our Fine Machine Polish is much better as a final polish on the white pad.

As for around the emblems, the full size pads are a bit of an issue if you're working in a tight space, I typically start with our 4" focus pads on the PC adapter (as audicopuej suggested) and buff all the pillars, under the mirrors, around handles, and emblems with that setup, then swap out for my full size pads and do all the rest of the panels.

I've worked with both the Adams swirl/haze remover, fine polish and the Wolfgang products, I'm having better results with the Wolfgang products. Its going to take alot of patience with the black paint. Thanks for the help.
