New To Forum--Need Some Advice!!!

Hi,

I am the owner of a BLACK 2004 GMC Yukon Denali. Since we bought it I haven't paid much attention to the paint, as a result it is not in good shape. Last month I backed it into a pole, it is now in the shop getting this fixed. The owner of the bodyshop is going to wet sand it for me to remove some of the surface defects, scratches. After I get my vehicle back, I'd like to begin to take the best possible care that technology today can provide. What can be recommended?

It's all about personal preference...

Search around the forum and read the posts on various products.

There are so many good product lines, it's hard to recommend just one.

Mothers
Autoglym
Optimum

All good.

As far as process goes. You should only polish when the car has scratches or swirls. Sealants are great for longevity, protection and shine. They are also easy to apply and wipe off.

Waxes give a deep shine, but they don't last long.

Yes, Premium has one of the widest selection of high quality detailing chemicals and equipment I've ever found. Oh yeah . . . you can't beat 15% off either.
 
I have a few questions:

1.) What would you recommend for leather? Keep in mind, it's new leather. It needs to be preserved.

2.) Tire cleaner-- They're alluminum I believe-- They're shiney though.

3.) Waxes and/or Sealants.

4.) Washmits.

5.) Car Wash.

Every vendor on this forum has the answer to all of your questions.

I personally started out with Meguiar's. Then the obcession started. I purchase from a lot of companies now. To recommend one would be a object lesson in futility. For what I have found is that they all work!!!! Most often, I cannot tell the difference in products. Sometimes I can. But mostly they all work.

It is basically the prepearation techniques that make a difference. If money is not a concern then there are boutique brands that will give you wonderful results. If price is of a concern....there are other vendors that will fill that bill.

I have the complete line of products from five different vendors sitting on my shelf right now. Plus a few certain sealants and polishes from other company's. They all have a look that only my eye appreciate's for whatever reason.

My best suggestion is to do a search of the product review section and the click and brag. Then decide how much work that you are willing to do, what the majority of the posters use as products, buy a whole bunch of MF towels, a PC/pads, two five gallon buckets/grit guard, at least three sheep skin wash mits, a car wash, at least one polish to prep the paint, a sealant to protect the paint, then a carnuaba to deepen the look of the paint, plus detail spray to help maintain the look and do not forget to purchase some WW towels for drying. Every vendor of this forum has what I just mentioned. The bottom line is that you must make the decision thru trial and error. I know that I have made and am still making errors as I search for the "Ultimate Shine".

So after this long post....the answer to you question, "What can be recommended?" Just pick one and use it.
