New To Board and Zaino/MF Question

Just stumbled upon this site yesterday. All I can say is wow, tons of great info. After over 29 years detailing my cars (anybody remember RainDance?) with a bunch of mistakes along the way I finally have a place to garner more info.



Now my wife knows I’m not the only one who’s obsessed about detailing their car.



On to my question. I’ve been using Zaino for over 2 years now on my 2000 Maxima SE and my wife’s 97 Maxima SE with great results, and I’ve always used Cannon Fieldcrest towels with never a problem. But all this talk on the MF towels has me intrigued. The only MF towels I use are the Viper window towels from CMA on all my glass. Just wondering if anybody using Zaino, also uses any MF towels? Any compelling reason to switch from my 100% cotton towels?

I only use USA 100% cotton towels for Zaino. Excellent results and saturation level from removal seems to be higher for cotton.. More plush. Tried MF once with Zaino and found no improvement. With the usage of ZFX surface marring upon removal is now non-existent. In the past this was a problem that I've read about but never experienced with cotton towels. I try to buy the plushest around.

I sometimes use a MF for the final wipe after all the Zaino has been removed. Improvement :nixweiss. Anal - Yes



I must admit it took me a long time to realize the advantages and improved appearances of a paint sealant. This may also be the case with MF's. :wavey
 
MF's : once you get the hang of it, you can't figuere out how you got along without 'm:xyxthumbs

I only use Mf's with zaino. Sure it takes a few but my parents gave them to me. They gave me alot too.



If you like what you have, why change? Who's car is it?
 
I'm a MF convert/Zaino user. I purchased a ton of the Fieldcrest towels when the online outlet store had a bargain . . . a friend of mine serged them for me, and I used them once or twice. Then, I picked up a few MF's after reading good things about them here. Since I tried MF, the serged Fieldcrests now just sit in a box on the shelf; I've only used them a couple of times since I picked up enough MF's to complete the switch over.

Just out of curiosity TortoiseAWD and others, what MF's are you using right now. I've seen a bunch of names being bandied about with rave reviews for just about everyones towels.:nixweiss
 
I find that cotton towels loosen dried up Z a tad easier than MF. What I sometimes do is use a serged Charisma towel and go around the car very quickly and then do a second pass to the entire car with an MF and buff it to a very nice shine. This technique works especially well with paste waxes.
 
I use cotton towels for Zaino polish removal...Occasionally I'll use MF for a change of pace...but I find Cotton towels work better for the most part.



I Always use MF towels for Z6ing. It is much faster than using cotton towels.
 
Ok, I'll admit, I'm new here. What the heck is a MF?

Mostly I have neatitems towels, with a few cheapies that I picked up locally sprinkled in (use for engine, wheels, etc). I'm going to try some of JT Int's towels for comparison in the near future.
