New Question on the dreaded Mr. Clean Auto dry.

You guys know that I know better than to use an auto dry for anything. However, I got to thinking, during the final rinse, what about using it to filter the rinse water, so it doesnt spot up as bad? After doing a healthy obsessive compulsive foam gun wash (of course). Any comments?
 
it's a waste of $$, save it... a nice flow with the hose to sheet off the majority of the water and a waffle weave/microfiber drying towel(s) is the way to go. i follow up with a qd afterwards anyway...
 
I understand what youre saying, however. From what I gather, there is two setting to the Auto dry thing, one to wash, and one to rinse. I was thinking of washing like normal, then using the auto dry on the rinse setting, to sheet water off, then blot with a WW like normal. Im thinking it will filter my horrible tap-water?
 
Yeah, sure, I used to do that. It was fine except for the horribly low flow, the leaky housing, and the cartridges that sometimes didn't work (clogged).
 
Kinda new here but -

Why not just put a filter on the hose itself?

Say a large "whole house" at the inlet end of the hose so you don't have to drag any weight around.

A gallon ? You gotta be kidding ?? You will need at least 2-3 bucket fulls to final rinse... In fact, to use filtered water will only help if you are washing in an enclosed space. You will definitely have to QD to get rid of spots anyhow since landing dust will be dangerous on your finish anyway... Better safe than sorry :cry:
 
The Mr Clean auto dry filtered water you are thinking of comes out as a mist not a stream of water to sheet off water.

Same deal here. Not worth the aggravation.
 
I only use it for the filtered final rinse. I have REALLY hard mineral water here. I also get CHUNKS of lime that clog the large initial nozzle rock-sized filters, so I tend to put up with its shortcomings until I get a real inline filter.



As a side note, depsite the mfg. claims, it can be filled with your favorite wash soap. It won't clog.
