NEW Product: CarPro Essence

And to think just a few years ago, when Sonax Perfect Finish came out without the fanfare, it worked really good, gave insane gloss, etc., and it was "discovered" that it had fillers that were hard as heck to remove, most everyone slammed it into the ground and said "Not in My Shop"... :) :) :) Remember ?

And a few years before Sonax, Wolf's had a similar product...

And somewhere awhile back Modesta Coatings of Japan, has a Primer product that has been doing this for years as well...

How do you say it - sometimes the longest way around is the shortest way home - :)

Ive tried a few of the coatings but NOT the 22ple. Do you still use microfiber-suede to install and remove? I'm hesitant to leave the Cquartz due to the awesome durability I get from it, also the shine/gloss.... I hate when this happens, lol, all these coatings to try!!

No kidding on the last bit. Just did my car with PBL V2 and then WG comes out with one. Gloss coat still seems to be the best looking, but can't really be waxed over. If I owned multiple cars, I could try all this stuff out.

The difference being there were several claims of defects reappearing and coatings failing very early when the original version of SPF was used for correction. This was enough to scare many of us away as it just isn't worth the risk of your reputation when working on a customer vehicle. According to CarPro, Essence was designed to work with coatings as a system, not interfere with them.

Modesta P-01A seems like a very similar product...... except that it is over $100 for less than 7 oz.

If Essence works as seen in the reviews and claims so far, it will be a very well received consumer product.

I guess this is the firs time I was ever really aware of something called a permanent filling product.

I guess the way I would use it would be to polish until I felt it was a waste to go further for fear of removing clear coat and then use this product to shore up any defects and/or amp up gloss.

Is this how you professionals view it, or is this designed to speed up the polishing by not having to finish down perfectly and still get the results you demand in less time?

I don't get why everyone is saying this is so innovative when there are already a few products doing this.

Hi guys! I actually was a Tester for this over the last year. The guys at Car Pro nailed it on this last last version that you see here. Essence produces the highest gloss finish I have ever seen. Anyone here who followed me at knows I'm a DIE HARD Black Fire finishing polish fan I use it day in and day out. I can produces some blinding results with it and cause some serious whip lash. That being Said the amount of time saved using this and it leaves a better finish Im sold! I know the time saving comes from the Filling ability which we normally think of as a bad thing. Not in this case as you can Coat right over the top of it with no wipe when using Cquartz products. In my testing at 24 hours after application I could not remove the SiO2 fillers with anything that a car would normally be exposed to. Including strong acids. I have several customer cars I used this on and put Cquartz Finest on top of and they are all holding up amazingly well. Most daily driven. I have confidence that the fillers are not going any where from what I;ve seen. As a stand alone I had it on a panel 6 months now still going strong and that actually a different version this one is stronger. I'd still recommend topping it with something because it is not very hydrophobic by its self so quick reload can fix that! Give me a couple days ill make application video and post of some of the results I've got with it. Thanks guys!

Hey Jsmooth, what were some visible clues that let you know Essence was still on the car after 6 months since its not very hydrophobic as a standalone? Did all the fillers to remain on the car?

The issue with SPF was the repeated denial of fillers, and to this day they will still say it has no durable fillers. I can think of another newer, popular product that claims the same. When a new polish comes out that performs great results in far less time then similar leading polishes, and with minimal effort, I'm immediately suspect, which is sad. I don't trust many manufactures these days and it shouldn't be that way. People simply want to know what's in the product and to know if the results they are seeing are true. I applaud CarPro and the others who will flat out admit when a product has durable fillers, even market it in this case. This way we can make the choice of which is the correct product to use for the job without any repercussions.

Just my $.02

Objective word = durable

Subjective word = durable

Wolf's chemicals product was also made to ork with coatings.
I tested this with CQUK andde cquk with wolfs nanoglaze lasted longer then just cquk alone...
Yet for some reason, nobody wants the wolfs stuff

In all honesty, I've never heard of it until the other day.... perhaps it is just a marketing issue.

Wolf's was here a few years ago and a guy from SC or NC was the distributor, remember ?

Perhaps it was on the Detail Site before Autopia? Or the one before that one that was before Autopia?

I think it being way ahead of its time (like the others who came shortly after but didnt choose to disclose their ingredients) and way more expensive, and perhaps not all the things were worked out as well as the newest of the new today, it eventually closed down probably due to lack of sales...

I remember when they put up big Sales to unload their inventory before they pulled the plug and left.. It was on the same website a lot of us were also on back then...

Got my 5 page bottle this afternoon. I hope to have something to report by Monday. Very excited, I hope it does not let me down.

Well, I spent several hours experimenting with Essence last night... both as a finishing polish to clean up marring after compounding and as a medium polish to remove light/moderate swirls.

On both accounts, I was very pleased with this product!! It performed just like Reflect when it came to finish polishing, which is great.

I'll have a full review with some pictures on that "other blog"... and will have a show n shine thread up within the next week that shows off Essence as a finishing polish in a two-step correction process.

All in all, I'll certainly be picking up a bigger bottle of this stuff... I can't wait to never use Eraser/IPA again :)

Here are a few pics from a car I did last weekend where Essence was used as a finishing polish.

After Griot's Fast Correct Cream on the G21 with BOSS MF pads

After Essence on the G21 with a yellow BOSS polishing pad. Notice how much richness it added to the paint! :)
