I happened upon this product while doing my monthly "Lets see if theres any new inventory at Pep Boys" shopping trip.....Attractive bottle, full synthetic, easy on and off, least thats what is says.....I think it was under $ 10.00.

Im eventually gonna have to try it, im a synthetic fanatic.....

I saw this too, but they don't seem as enthusiastic about this one as their older product. I've used the older prestone bullet wax liquid, which is a synthetic. I like it, and thought it lasted quite long, but the wax test showed it as having only slightly above average durability. I guess I felt that way because I also used gold class before and that stuff seemed to be gone by the end of the week. The finish was not slippery at all.

i saw this today....

read the label and it sed sumthing like, synthetic wax w/ real carnuaba.....odd?
I think Mother's new wax is also a synthetic/carnauba mix as well.

I acutally used some the other day at the volunteer fire department I'm on. It was easy on and off. Couldn't really comment on the shine since the apparatus were not really prepped before hand and I have not seen them outside yet.

Do you think that they're saying that it actually is carnuaba and a synthetic mixed or that it's a synthetic that also has the virtues of carnuaba?

Welcome RhinoNC! :welcome

I saw this stuff earlier too and read the back:

"Fully synthetic carnauba wax" or something like that. I did a double take at that statement! If it contains carnauba, it must be a combination of wax and synthetic sealant because on the health warnings box it says "contains amino functional silicones", which is something RonK used to mention a lot in reference to polymer sealants.

Thanks for the welcome!

I've seen a few people refer to the "wax test" I've done some searches on the site to find it, but have been unsuccessful. Do you know where it is?

Great pianos. Yamaha also makes consumer electronics. I have a Yamaha CA1000 Integrated Amplifier that is 25 years old, still looks and works great! :)

My 9 years old sister got a new Yamaha digital piano last Christmas. That thing sounds and feels just like a 7 foot long grand piano. But only about 2 feet deep and only $3,000 instead of $30,000. :D How do I know?? We went to a piano store and the salesman let us play with their Yamaha's 7 foot grand piano, then he showed us the digital ones. It's amazing what that thing can do. Here's the one we got:

Hello,

Thanks for the welcome.

I have a bottle of this Preston stuff which I used on my '95 civic before I sold it. I am new to this, so I don't know whether it was good or not.

I also have a relatively old bottle of Turtle Wax Super Hard Shell.

My new car is a 2002 WRX, and I'm deeply in love with it.

I'm mostly interested in protection rather than appearance at this point and I don't think the paint needs much work. I have seen people say that it is better to put carnuaba wax over synthetics. So I'm thinking about using the Prestone and then putting the Turtle Wax over it.

So here's my questions. The Super Hard Shell looks like it's a cleaner wax. Will it strip off the Prestone if I do it over it? Would I be better off with just the Prestone? I think that if I just do one, I want to do the Prestone.

One other question about the Prestone. Most advice I see here says to do wax a section at a time. The Preston bottle says to apply the whole car and then wipe off. I did this on the Honda and found it to be kind of hard work. Should I do it a section at a time or all at once?

Thanks!

Rhino if the Prestone wax is hard to use and you are not sure how the results are and you have to top it with turtle wax it doesn't seem to hot. My brother in law always used TW, I gave him some S100 even though he claimed TW is the best because he did a comparison of every product 10 yrs ago and it won. He could not believe the shine S100 has and was completely blown away, not to mention how easy it is use. My point is that if you weren't blown away with the Prestone it probably isn't that great and not worth the work.

Thanks for the response, thomas. I wasn't very clear in what I meant.

I didn't mean that I found the Prestone's results to be iffy, I meant that I don't have the experience to know how good it is. The Honda I put it on had not been waxed or polished in the past 3 years so it wasn't a good baseline.

I also didn't mean that I thought I had to put on TW. I was more asking (since I have both on the shelf) whether they would supplement each other or interfere.

If I see some S100, I'll probably pick it up.

Thanks again.
